Can they pinpoint the location of previously made cell phone calls?

I know they can triangulate on a current cell phone signal, but can they also figure out the location that a previous call was made from?

i believe they can as each call will be recorded on each repeater that it goes through so they can i would think. but wouldn't swear to it.

They can trace it by tracking what towers your phone hit. For example if you are in a car each time you use your cell phone it uses the closest cell tower and they can get records from your carrier that tells them where you were and at what time by tracking which cell tower your phone used.

Yup, a guy was convicted of murder here in Ireland last year based primarily on that kind of evidence. Cell companies only store the data for a certain length of time though.

They can trace to a very close area, and if the phone is used to phone other people such as family and friends they can trace you through the numbers you call, expecially if you have used the phone to ring a landline number near you
