No,If you are just standing in a public place and say "cops are really stupid," that statement is protected by the First Amendment. If you make the statement while doing something else illegal, you will be arrested, but not for the statement. |

You cannot get arrested if you say this in front of an undercover or any cop period. If you are in an area where abusive speech is prohibited (such as a mass transit bus or a public school) you can get a fine.
The downfall to actions like this is that you set yourself up for bad things to happen to you.
You are allowed to be in dark alleys at night and flash wads of cash and and say "I've got some money, and you can't have it!", but you stand the chance of getting mugged. |

No, there's the freedom of speech, you are entitled to have your own opinions about people, but if you said it straight to a cop then u could be arrested, but if a cop just heard you saying it to a friend--u shouldn't be arrested. |

yeah you probably could get arrested for something and probably would if you said it to a uniformed officer. But an undercover cop probably would just beat your *** when no one was looking. he'd really be a dumbass if he blew his cover to arrest you on the charge of swearing in public. |

Hi....If you weren't directly saying it in front of the cop then I would assume "no". One can voice their opinion but if an individual made the comment directly towards this person then "yes" they probably could arrest you. Disorderly conduct towards the officer. But again if the statement was indirectly stated and not presumed to where it was not directed harmful or threatening to the cop then "no". Of course then again cops are known to do things unexpectedly without hesitation. I guess it's all up to the cop...lol,! Good luck with this one! |

Most local governments now have obscenity laws, which prohibit certain offensive words to be spoken in public.
The "N" word can get you a ticket for race discrimination, and public obscenity laws prohibit graphic content.
It was not your freedom of speech that was fined, but the content.
A little respect for others is what it is designed for. |

LOL! Depends on what you were doing when you said it! If you were being loud and disturbing the peace then yes he could arrest you for disorderly conduct. If you were hindering his investigation in some way, then yes he can arrest you. Most of this would be misdemeanor stuff and come with a small fine.
My suggestion is that if you know you are yelling at an undercover officer you should probably leave out the cop slams :-) |

Last I checked we still have freedom of speech and thought. As long as you aren't threatening they can't do a thing. Doesn't mean they won't make something up though, or watch for you to do anything wrong so they can get you on that. So beware of what you say... |
