Can you believe this? A cop who shot an unarmed teenager for stealing playstations will?

go without conviction because a juror checked the wrong box on an indictment form. You have got to be kidding me...justice can't be served because of a measly human error like that?! Anyone else appalled besides me.

And no I do not think it is good to steal, but no cop should play judge, jury and executioner.

what is wrong with you don't you know that when someone puts on a badge and gun it is also a license to kill , and most join the police force for that very reason they don't have enough butt to kill on their own for fear of being caught or some one shooting back, but with from 10 to 100 cops at their side they are bad bad bad, A cop in Calif, shot a 7 year old kid who came down the hall way with a cap gun , after the police broke down the door, the cop went free so why should this cop get punished , "our public servants at work" This will continue unntil the people in this country says enough is enough and puts a stop to it, 1st realize a cops job is not really dangerous , insurance statistics show that police deaths in the line of duty is less per 1000 than constructions workers, farmers, and many more and are in the lower brackets for job injuries or deaths and the public needs to know this , "sure the police have a great P,R, committee, but statistics show they don't face but very little dange less than a taxi driver or convience store clerk, but, with all of this hype about how they face so much danger etc some even believe it themselves ,there fore are scared to death even in the smallest incident happens, things will change when the public stops making hereo's out of them and making them face the same penaltys as the normal citizen, if you shoot some one entering your home , you had better make sure he has a gun in his hand or you will be charged with murder, why are our so called proffessionally trained public servants held to lesser standards????

Yes this was the "teenager" 18 year old, not a child, who had beat another college student very seriously to steal this play station. ( guess no body cares about the victims this "teenager" left laying on the ground.

And it was a serious enough and the suspect considered dangerous enough to allow them to use a battering ram to knock the door down.

And the officer thinking he heard gun shots, ( maybe from the play station, maybe from TV, but upon hearing shots, he shot.

His shotting was not a good shot, since he is suppose to see the suspect and clear for weapon but in the excitement of arrested this felon who had already done seroius harm to someone else, they felt they were in danger.

When you go out to steal, rob, murder, rape, carjack, etc, does your mind ever go that this could happen to you? Of course not, if it did you would not be doing stupid things like that in the first place. Some people wake up in the morning with an invincibility complex. "nothing will happen to me" or as the other guy said, all cops are idiots. But when YOUR house is getting broken into and YOU shoot the guy, it's ok. Or when you are being robbed by someone then the cop that puts his life on the line, for YOU, a total stranger is ok. The only thing I have to say to this is what I have said many times in the past. CAUSE AND EFFECT. Remember this rule before you do anything. IT APPLIES TO EVERYONE.

Before you all go completely berserk, which is what this story is going for (Mission Accomplished), you should know that charges will most definitely be re-filled. A mistake like this does not mean that an accused murderer could just walk free. The world of law is really more common sense than the media would have you believe. There are no magic loopholes, or quirks in the system that could let people like this off without being charged.

Stop letting the news upset you so much, this is what they get paid to do. Work people up, and then move on to the next story without following up. When charges get re-filled, I guarantee you that there will be absolutely NO story on it. Mark my words.

You are guaranteed a fair trial, not a perfect one. Human error is part of the deal

Reading the story, it sounds like this grand jury foreman (John K. Hatton) changed his mind suddenly or realized he checked the wrong box and got it changed. Don't blame the system, blame the person and those who chose him to be on the grand jury. Imagine the controversy if they went ahead with the "true bill" and the juror went public, saying he made a mistake? Either way, it's a mess.

It definately sounds like the cop was wrong and should answer for his mistake in court. He says he thought he was bieng fired on because of the sound of the battering ram hitting the door?? What sound did he expect to hear?? Obviously the other officers (who didn't fire) were more prepared to handle the situation.

our law system is flawed to say the least this is a shame

n the point is?

More Lies & More Smoke Screens
Don't blame the police, blame the justice system!!!!
Cops make arrests & the courts let them go. The Police arrest them again & again & the courts keep letting them out.
Being a police officer is VERY HIGH STRESS & their lives depend upon fast action & NOT second guessing. A single seconds hesitation & they don't make it home to their families because some low life scumbag decides he wants what belongs to someone else without working for it. Or because they are drug dealers killing school kids, gang members who turn city streets into shooting galleries because they THINK the streets belong to them. Etc.
Don't get down on the police, MOST people who complain about them couldn't pull one shift as a police officer in MOST of the large towns & cities in this country.
Better the criminal than the police who put their lives on the line EVERY shift to protect the people in their communities.
The media, like with our military do NOT report ANYTHING good that the police or the military do. They ONLY pick & choose the worst things & televise or publish that.
If you don't like it, go to the police academy & become a police officer.
I like the cause & effect...
Our prisons are already over crowded. This is one less that MY tax dollars will go to house, feed & provide cable television for. Be it in prison of the wefare lines....

The evolution of police forces under or so called criminal justice system has gone from “Protect and Serve” painted on the side of police cars, to the all new and improved “Law Enforcement” … and with that, summary execution of about one unarmed local civilian a week (Portland Oregon area as a classic example) for failing to follow instructions, none of the involved “officers” ever indicted by grand juries after the fact. I am surprise the cop in question even got to trial.
NOW…Who is the most dangerous person on American streets, the real statistical truth?.

It's just one more example of the corruption in our government. The United States is being turned into a police state. Too much government crime, too much surveillance, and too many laws that conflict with the constitution of the United States.
