Yes, this is whats known as FRAUD, lol.

Still, if your only trying to buy booze from your local shop or get into a night club, I wouldn't worry about it too much.

It's when you start trying to setup multiple bank accounts in other peoples names that you need to think twice.

use an id with a fake name and address(obviously)
and if you get stopped with drink for god sake do NOT try to use the id to get you off...buying booze with a fake- id not too serious, lieing to a cop with false id.....full blown fraud!
if you are going to a club it's not as serious...

Depends on the fake ID. If it is an official document like a drivers licence or passport the "doctoring" or forgery are crimes per se.
If one were to fake a student ID it would depend what one was using it for? Deception etc. If one was using it to get into a nightclub or buy drink the offences are licensing law offences and not ID in itself.

Naturally, not only in the UK a person can be arrested but everywhere in any given country. Why only in the UK. Using fake ID's tantamount to fraud. Meaning to say why you possess these ID's in the first place is to lured someone or somebody and robbed him/her of her valuables by not using your real name. Arrested and put to jail. Even if found using them is already a violation of the law.

There is a new act of law, The ID Act, which was brought into power recently and it is now an offence to carry or make false ID, whatever it's intended use is, the punishment is a fine or jail or both, and heavier if the ID has been used

You can be arrested for any offence if the arrest criteria under the Police and Criminal Evidence Act is fulfilled one of which is being able to substantiate identity and address so if you were using fake ID it is likely, but the actual using fake ID is not and offence as there is no legal requirement to have ID you would be charged or reported for the actual offence you committed IE purchasing alcohol under age.Fraud is an offence where property or a monetary advantage is gained which in most cases of fake ID is not the case.

Actually people don't realise how much trouble they can get into....dependant on the fraud, because you are going equipped with a false ID card to gain for yourself or another a pecuniary advantage. Your talking of possible criminal charges, again dependant on what your up too with it.

I'm afraid so because it is illegal. However, i think many police authorities are relatively lenient (depending on the ID in question) and just give a slight 'slap on the wrist' and tell you not to do it again.
