Can you let go of a stun gun, if you shock yourself?

I have heard interesting story of people shocking themselves with stun guns, and being unable to let go. Does anyone know if this is true? Does the body, including the arms and fingers, seize up in such a way that you cannot let go of the stun gun once you start shocking yourself???? I don't particularly feel like trying it on myself, so I was just wondering if anyone knows for sure what would really happen. Thanks for your help :-)

It depends on the type of stun gun. A contact stun gun like Z-Force or Stun Master will not cause you to lock down and continue to shock yourself. That's not how they work. What a contact stun gun does when it hits a person is to cause the muscles to work a lot in a short amount of time. That's why a person gets the constipated look when you shock them with a contact stun gun. This depletes the body of energy and makes it very hard for someone to do something. If you've ever had low blood sugar, you'll understand.
Now a Taser style stun gun works a bit differently. It overrides the communication pathways from the brain to the muscular system, so even if a person wanted to, they couldn't do anything. This is in addition to the effect you get from a regular stun gun. It's kind of a two for one in that regard. The civilian Tasers, however, only go off for a short period of time. At most 30 seconds, so you have time to get away.
So really there is no way to keep shocking yourself, that's just a funny story sent around by email. |

It depends, if it a police Tazer it will stop after 5 seconds, If it is a over the counter stun gun you could possibly zap yourself until the battery runs out or you drop it. |

You would have to hit your arm. The electrical shocks won't reach the extremities. Getting hit in the chest will cause you to lose control of your shoulder and possibly down to your waist. Some people however have pulled the wires off themselves. |
