I am also apalled by how short sentences paedophiles get!

The problem is that any form of death sentence is too quick and painless.

I've said it before, they should be locked in a room with the parents of those children that they have abused or tortured and be left to the mercy of them.

unfortunately we have too many people in this country who say that capital punishment is not the mark of a civilised country. Please tell me exactly what is civilised about a country where the human rights of criminals are placed on a pedestal above the human rights of victims, where gangs openly carry guns and kill, immigrants are allowed to get off scot-free because they come from different cultures and the authorities are afraid to act for fear of being sued

Ohhh...how I agree with you. It just makes me sick to my stomach. As a mother, I find it utterly disgusting. We do our best to protect our children. I don't even let my little ones play in the front yard. They can only ride their bikes if they are with us. I take them to and from school, even though it is within walking distance. I think an automatic death sentence should be instilled for anyone that abuses and/or murders a child. No sitting on death row for 10 years at the taxpayer's expense. One trial, no appeals. That's it. There is no cure for a pedophile. Once a pedophile, always a pedophile. They are a menace to society. And as such, should be eliminated. I think our children would be safer if our laws would insist upon harsh punishment for these criminals. And if that means death, then so be it. I won't miss them and I don't think anyone else in their right mind would either.

I think the best punishment is to put them in the hardest, meanest prison there is. Put them in with the general inmates and let it be known what they are in for. Prison inmates do not like those who prey on children and know what to do.

You know I've seen people react more to animal abuse than child abuse. It is the most heinous of all crimes. If it at all makes you feel better and the violator is caught and sent to prison. He is the lowest on the "food-chain" if you will, he is labeled short-eyes and 9 out of 10 times will not survive in prison. Inmates gain in stature by taking these "people" out.

Just some thoughts on reading the answers so far...
Anyone who commits murder -and is proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt - should have NO human rights.
We, the taxpayer, should not have to pay to keep such scum in their cosy prison life. Death sentence should be mandatory.
A child murderer should be put in a room with the family of the victim - and given the chance to explain his actions. Let's see who comes out alive.
And the sickest thing of all with this specific case...it's allegedly the girl's UNCLE, the brother of her mum or dad, who did this evil deed.

The PC brigade will say that even paedophiles have rights I do not agree, rights surely come with the obligation to respect other peoples rights if you deliberately take someones life it is simple justice that you should forfiet your own.

I fully agree with you, people of the UK stand up and be counted, put pressure on the government and the do gooders.
We have to be strong and get rid of all these sick perverts once and for all. It's in the hands of the British people to do something positive about it.Let us reverse this murderous madness that is going on in our society. Give them a taste of their own medicine, if the scum want to deliberately set out to murder innocents

I consider myself a do-gooder but I want to do good for the children who suffer at the hands of these dispicable people, not for the sickos. I completely agree with your sentiments. We are reaching the stage when it's simply too easy to put them in prison. People like the man who killed that little girl (and I can't imagine what her poor mother is going through) forfeit their right to fairness and compassion when they commit the acts that so disgust us all.

I agree with you because the alternative route we are going down is towards a security state where people have their general freedoms reduced to supposedly reduce the general likelihood that offences will be committed.
The reactionary approach to crime is the only one which promotes general freedom.

The fact is you're not solving any kind of problem. You're just meeting out what you consider to be some wasteful kind of justice born from emotional response. Fair enough, I suppose. Yet, why, when there are other things that can be done. Why can't we use these vile miscreants. Medical science has always been hindered by the inhumanity of experimenting on people to find answers and indeed cures to the mysteries of contemporary science. I cannot help but feel that any question of ethics becomes a moot point when the subject on the operating table is a raping child killer. Who knows, perhaps this way, they'll find a cure!

I totally agree--I think it should be a mandatory death sentence--i worked for the D.O.C and the inmates put child molesters and murderers of children on the top of their list--they always have the same thing done to them in prison--(justly so I think!!) or better yet--(killed)

As you see from all previous answers, many people agree, but there are two problems.
1. People should also be very careful of believing forensic science is as good as TV shows portray. There is always a chance that innocent people are found guilty by a jury and so society murders an innocent victim who may have been stitched up by personal enemies or the police with false evidence, and
2. The UK would be obliged to leave the European Union as the EU Treaties forbid capital punishment.

We do vote but the politicians take no notice of us. Time to change our votes? Go to the extreme party and show them we mean what we say? Who knows the answer. But capital punishment - YES. Child killers and abusers have no rights left at all.
