hi there, three days ago my brother was egged on by a pack of his 'mates' to go steal some cars on the outskirts of our city. he wasnt drunk or under the influence of drugs, he was just stupid and bored Im guessing. Anyways, on the way into town driving two cars (he was in one and his mates in the other) my brother lost control of the car he was driving and crashed. he was taken to hospital with broken bones and serious wounds to his head. When I visited him in hospital he had 2 security guards on his door and the police had yet to come and speak to him. What could happen to him? will there be serious charges? Jail time? if so how long is he looking at? He doesnt have a previous criminal record, he doesnt know the extent of the damage he coursed to the car, but he told me it was a newish looking Ford and he remembered that he damaged the front of the car and the windscreen. He told me the keys were in the car when he stole it, isnt this an offence? Im so worried about him, I havent heard from him in awhile. I'd like to know what you think.

Two security guards are contracted to do police hold.
I am sure he has been charged in the event and booked as a suspect in the theft, wreck, etc of someone elses property.
If keys were in the car, does it make it ok to take it? Was the car also running with the keys left in the ignition?
If the keys were in your house door, after you brought in the groceries, is it then legal for another to open the door, come in? |

Well there is hope since he is a first time offender, but he won't be likely to get out of jail time. The better legal representation you can afford the better his chances of doing less time are. |
