Chris Langham - The Judge should not have been so judgemental?

The judge said that Chris Langham "will be shunned by many in public".
I think he has gone too far there - it is one thing for him to pass sentance, but to make those comments is using his privileged positionn to entice people to think badly of him, and I don't see that as his job.
People should be left to make up their own minds about Chris Langham, without a pompous old judge sticking his oar in.

LEIGH: I am not saying that he should not be shunned. I'm saying that it should not be for the judge to express that sentiment. It is a court of law, not of ethics and preaching.

Um ... isn't being 'judgemental' sort of part of the job description of being a judge! Also, he was right, Chris Langham will, rightly, be shunned. What is a disgrace is that he only got ten months, he should have got ten years.

I think Chris Langham should be put in a room with loads of women with blunt knives and that would be any easy sentence as they would not have to pay prison fees to keep him there for 10 months!

Sorry. I don't agree with you. I understand your sentiments but if 'joe soap' was asked the same question, I imagine the judge would be vindicated for his utterance.

Langham's life is ruined by his own stupidity and perversion. He won't work in public entertainment again.

If, as he claimed, he was researching for a role, I fail to see how looking at the images and video material found in his possession could be of any use. He would surely have been better served by downloading case histories of those previously convicted for this type of crime.

The judge was not encouraging people to shun Langham; he was making an observation as to what will inevitably happen. That's why Langham won't be on our screens in the future. People won't want anything to do with him, regardless of what a judge might mutter.
