I recently received a citation for failure to quarantine animal. I dont think its my fault, the cable guy went to my backyard without telling me and my dog bit him. Well the officer left a citation on my door but wrote my name wrong, and doesnt have any ID info from me. So am i off the hook? My dog is not registered to me either.
Additional Details
I have a fence and a beware of dog sign around my house. But how can they file a warrant for my arrest if they dont have a name? wouldnt the warrant just go to a wrong person?

well if hes got your address that all the need, hell if they have a license plate and now where you live. sounds like a misunderstanding. i would go explain this one out. chances are its just going to be your word vs nobody's. the cable guy sure isnt going to show up and the police is probably not going to be there. probably wont have to show you have the dog registered. now if you dont show up, they could issue you a warrant for your arrest "failure to not apper" and thats 10x worse than any dog citation. cause you could go to jail and a failure to pay fines can do it too. |

Not really...you can try to call the PD and explain the situation, but you'll probably lose(whether in the station OR in court, where you'll be FORCED to pay the cable guy's medical bills for the rest of his life!), because in most US jurisdictions, just because the dog was in the backyard(even though it wasn't yours at all), it's still considered YOUR dog!...even though the officer wrote/misspelled your name on the ticket, and you try to bring this up at the police station, just doing that means(in their eyes) that you automatically admit guilt(NO exceptions!)... |

Why is the cable guy there without you being there? I'd file trespassing charges if you have a fence. If not then your probably f'd. |
