Yes, you can use a simple webcam connected to a broadband internet service to wirelessly monitor your house when you're away.
The best way to do this is to set up a surveillance camera through your IP address and link directly for a live view of your house. This works similar to a webcam, in the sense that it streams video around the clock. |

If you install security cameras at home connected to a Digital Video Recording (DVR) system, you get the ability to access real time videos online via the internet. I had a 4 channel DVR installed at home connected to my home network.
