Confused on how i should handle my traffic court case?

a few months back i was pulled over for speeding and reckless driving. i have court coming up and i am not sure how to plead since i was not being reckless. i was speeding so i don't want to plead not guilty for that but i do not want to plead guilty for reckless driving. this is my first court appearance and i am not sure what to do. i was told to as for a continuance if i didn't like the outcome because i was unable to get a public defender for my court date but i am unsure of how to plead. my ticket was in delaware if that helps. please help!!

First off, a certain amount over the speed limit is automatic reckless driving. Here in CA it's 21 or more miles over the speed limit. Second, who's the idiot who told you to get a PD? They don't have PDs in traffic court. Third, you have no case to fight so I"m not sure what you think is going to happen by pleading not guilty. You''ll then tell your side of the story, the cop tells his and you lose and then you have court costs on top of your fine.
Your only option is to plead guilty and ask for traffic school, then it won't be on your record. But if you insist on fighting it, which it sounds like you're going to, you will lose and have court costs and you can't go to Traffic school once you lose. But you do what you have to do. |

Im not up on Delaware law but in Mississippi, proving reckless is alot harder than you might think. So, since you dont have a lawyer look up your states law on reckless. If you were not doing that then tell the judge that. If you go with the statute in your hand then you may be able to work it out. If the cop just wrote you that because of the speed then youll probably get out of it. |
