Some things most officers consider is the effort and time they've spent earning their positions of public trust.

They also consider the low pay prior to swearing the oath therefore know what little pay they'll receive.

Lastly, most officers have a more "caring" desire to help others and their communities which more than makes up for driving a good American made auto instead of that Mercedez!

Nope....there's no way I'd go to jail for a few extra dollars just because somebody else broke the law! It's not worth it!

My job is not worth someone bribing me me, that is just ignorant and repugnant. Most and I say most officers would never entertain the thought that $200 or $300 is worth their career. We have worked so hard to always do the right thing and we find joy in serving our communities. I would never accept any amount of money from some puke trying to stay out of trouble, you put your self in that postition by making a bad decision....isn't my fault you made a mistake

Yes, there are law enforcement officers that will take your bribe.....and be sitting in jail with you!

My husband is a police officer (21 years experience), his brother is a police officer (15 years experience) and both of them were also police officers in the military. My sister's husband is a correctional officer (15 years experience) and I am a communications officer for the sheriff's office (9 years experience). No, the money is not good and we all live modestly. But we have honesty and integrity and that makes us rich.

When I have an officer checking a suspicious subject, trust me I check every wanted file available to me and if I get a "hit", the subject gets a free ride in a police car wearing a lovely set of silver bracelets.

Cops in the US are paid well enough that bribery for such petty things as you describe is extremely rare. It is common just accross the border in Tijuana where it is customary to buy yourself out of a ticket. The police there are very poorly paid.

The corruption that does occur involves some real money/power. Look at the soon to be departed top cop Gonzalez.

The Denzel Washington character in Training Day was based on a real LAPD Narc. named Rafael Perez.
