Corruption in America?
Find answers to your legal question.

Corruption in America?

Is it true that there is not corruption in America? I mean, if I gave $1,000 USD to an officer if I was driving drunk, what would happen?

P.D. Or $2,000 USD, whatever.

Well if you gave it to me it would be tagged as evidence and you would be charged with attempting to bribe a police officer or other public official. You would lose the money because it is now evidence in a criminal case. And you would be going to jail for your dui, the additional charge, and I would be towing your car away after making sure I was a little messy searching your car for being just that stupid.

Vanilla Face
Huh? I don't think you worded that very well.

Bribery would cost you several nights in jail, you shouldn't be drunk driving anyway. My husband saw a photo of a guy who was killed by a drunk driver at a Circuit City computer someone installed it on there and he described to me how they were pulling him out of the wreckage and he was 100% disfigured because of an ahole like you. Stay off the road.

More than likely, you would go to jail for bribery!

It looks like your eyes are NOT seeing all. Either that, or you live in another country and have no clue about law enforcement over here.

The majority of law enforcement personnel are hard-working, dedicated people who love what they are doing. Once in awhile there might be a corrupt cop in the bunch, but it's not the "norm".

I have friends who are police officers. I was also married to one. None of them would have accepted a bribe to let a drunk driver go. All of them had more integrity than that.

Now, if you were caught skateboarding on the sidewalk in a restricted area, and offered a bribe of 10 million dollars to not get ticketed, that would be a different story.

I'm more worried about corruption in the higher forms of government, and in big business than corrupt cops.

Charge of bribing a police officer comes to mind. You are also pretty cheap if you think you'll get off for $2,000

Underground Man
Who ever said there was no corruption in America?

Mr ME
look at those top white house aides who have been criminally charged but who escaped jail after presidential intervention!!

naaaaa nooooooo corruption...naaaaaaaaaaaaaa ....

corruption is highly present in american society but it is not always those who you suggest to be dishonest who really are. cops are more honest then most of the top level white house aides and advisers

There is corruption in all countries and in all walks of life.

However, giving a bribe to a police officer would not be smart. If I had the person on tape trying to give me the money I would add a bribery charge to the DWI arrest.

Taking a bribe is not worth losing a career.

Corruption is WIDESPREAD at Local, County, and State levels.

It is only once a politician reaches the Federal level that he "suddenly" finds morality. ROFL

For instance, if THIS guy were to become President, he would be absolutely trustworthy.

Of course corruption exist in America. Now that question about bribing a cop really just depends on the cop. Some would for a thousand and some wouldn't. Every man has his price. Some times its not always money. For example did you here about a west Hollywood parking meter cop offers to cut a deal with Vida Guerra, in exchange for nude pics? They have all that on tape to. I believe there is corruption all about in America, and not just in America but all over the world. It is sad really but thats just one of the things you have to accept like it or not.

I have been asked for moeny before. My dad was asked to give potato chips from the truck he was driving. It's just the way the system works.

I think they have to initiate the request to be perfectly safe.

Corruption has been rife in America since it's inception. Anyone who doesn't believe that should be locked away from the rest of society.

I've paid off a cop before. And it didn't cost me $1,000. For $200, he let me out of a speeding ticket. I was going 95 in a 55. My girlfriend was in the car.

She said,"We're from out of state. It would be nice if we could just pay you. That way, we wouldn't have to go to court. Couldn't you just take the money and pay the ticket for us?" I couldn't believe that she had the cajones to try it, but it worked. He went back to his car, and then came back and said, "Here's your license, sir. The ticket is $110, but if you'd like me to pay that for you, I'll have to charge a bit extra. The total will be $200." He was grinning from ear to ear. I gave him the money, and he waved at us to leave.

FYI: This was in Arkansas, near the Niagua River. Don't try this at home, kiddies.
