Could I become a cop with retail theft on my record?

Happened one time when I was 18. Got it erased from record but I know they will still find it. My ultimate life goal is to become undercover narcotics. Any help?

It depends on a lot of factors. Some departments will hire people with minor crimes, usually if they are old and you have been an outstanding citizen since then. Usually it would either be a really desperate agency, or you would have to be a really great candidate in every other aspect.

Yeh you would fit right in with the narcs because you have already displayed your dishonest tendences when you commited theft. i don't for a minute believe that you haven't shoplifted only once, you only got caught once. Narcs are the slimest of the cops, they do drugs, steal drugs, plant evidence, and deal drugs, you have some really great aspirations.

Big Willy
If you're clever enough to avoid any more convictions, you'd probably make a good narc. The main quality they look for is slimyness and a complete lack of decency.

Mickeys is so hurt
Yes......I had lots of misdemeanor's and still joined the force.....no felony's alowed

probably but it would be easier to join the military .. why i have no idea .. soldiers are usually more civil than most cops imo

ohh undercover narcotics lol? .. i dunno, but the funny thing is ... you can commit all kinds of crimes (to keep your cover) once you become a narc
