Granted there are a few who might be dirty cops, but the majority are not. Everyday they leave their spouses, children never knowing if they are coming back home at the end of their shift. They must deal with the most gruesome of crimes and dead bodies. They must deal with criminals who have more and stronger fire power then they do. They must deal with people who just want to target and kill police men. They have to deal with parents of criminals/gang members who are now fighting for their gang member child who was just killed by a police man. (even though this gang member killed many innocent people). The list is endless and they do all this especially putting their lives on the line for a mere what $30,000 a year.
I just don't understand why people protect criminals....And continue to give police a bad name. They truly deserve so much it is us they are protecting and I don't see a mad dash to become a police man.

Never. A police woman, maybe.
In any job there is an element of risk. Teachers risk getting shot by former students and bitter parents. Doctors risk having their clinics blown to bits. 7-11 clerks risk being killed over $20 in their registers. Everyone takes a risk just by sitting behind the wheel of their vehicle. Most police personnel I know spend their time monitoring speed and visiting schools. When a policeman falls, it makes the headlines and is truly a tragedy. but far more rare than someone being killed by a drunk driver. Probably because they do their jobs so well that the general public is more conscientious about doing the right thing. |
