Yeah its illegal you cant forge signatures, and it's credit card fraud. |

Yes,she committed a crime and no she didn't do it "accidentally". If she forged someone's signature then it wasn't accidental. In addition, when a person signs the bottom of a credit application they are signing that the above information is true, which if your friend filled in a fake social security number could theoretically, get them in trouble. |

I believe you'll find out when you are allowed to make the one call to your attorney.
Inform everyone involved right now and see if you can straighten this out before you get a knock at the door from you friendly neighborhood policeperson.
that is unless you are from Chicago. if so, it's not illegal and is ok with everyone |
|

Tessa

No, there wasn't anything accidental about it.
"Oops, I slipped and forged a signature before I hit the ground." |

You're forging a document that someone did not actually sign or fill all the way out. Yes, that is illegal. No clue if it'd be a felony, though. |

Falsification of business records, possibly some identity theft issues concerning the use of possibly valid (but not for that person) social security numbers, forgery, theft by deception ... and that's just off the top of my head!
"Your friend" has some big legal issues if this little scam ever comes to light! That friend had better have an excellent lawyer and some very deep pockets! |

yes - fraud
have fun in jail |

Yes. And it wasn't accidental, either. Good luck. |

Of course it's illegal. You can't do stuff like this. |

Dont let these people scare you. Even if it is fraud there is always lawyers who can help..and if its a felony that doesnt mean your going to prison unless you already have a felony..your allowed to defer your first felony charge as long as you do certain things the court tells you to do.
Honestly though..Your organization may get in trouble before you. The worst that i see happening is you getting fired..how do they know YOU were the one who did it? you are innocent until PROVEN guilty..so they would have to PROVE that YOU signed those...
plus you didnt know there REAL social number right? so it probably wont even go through. The charge will probably be incomplete... |
|

yup its a federal crime its consider fraud if the other person did not gave consent and ends up finding out |
|

troy k
|
yes that is illegal even just forging a few signatures would get you 5-9 years in prison and no SS # forging those you get you 10-15 years |
|

Bag Lady

Very Illegal. |

My guess is that your "friend" committed fraud. It may be a misdemeanor if not much money was involved or it may be a felony because it was intentional and forgery was involved.
She should probably nip this problem in the bud and provide restitution to the company as the company probably won't pursue charges if it is reimbursed. She could probably just send the company a check and say that since some of the applications didn't get approved, she didn't think it was right to take the money. |

your in trouble bye bye |
|

O...sh*t
|
Pretty sure that is not legal, and you friend might get into some serious problems if they catch the names and SS#'s not matching. I'm not sure they will check or not but pretty sure they will if it involves credit cards. |

NOPE not at all. as long as the social security numbers weren't used and she could have just wrote signature on file instead of signing them but no problem there either. |
