Dirty cops in a small town?

What can I do about it? When asking the higher ups, I'm just told to go somewhere else, it ends up in a never ending door to door quest. Obviously the cops are sticking together, and a small population like ours can do nothing about it. I only have a problem with one officer. It is bad when everyone you talk to hate him and you hear all the stories of what he has done. Pulled a gun on a 12 year old (no witnesses so the parents were told that the son had an overactive imagination) and harassing my brother, among many things. Physically harassing my brother, no substantial reason. Thought about going to the fbi that has control over our county. But honestly, I don't think there is realistically anything I can do. Any suggestions?

the best thing to do is catch him in the act with a video camera it worked for me more then a few times ugh nothing worse the a dirty cop

ALL police officers are dirty! The police is the biggest gang in the world. It doesn't matter what you try to do about it but those dirty little pigs will always somehow come out winning, it's sad but true

It happens and there is really nothing much you can do about it without being targeted. Those cliques are very tightly knit and quite often you will find the DA on down involved.

Take it to the press and make some noise, but they too might be in bed with them and if so take it to some national press preferably based out of NYC--they have the power to bring the type of focus that will draw state attention to the matter. You need real big guns to take out power, metaphorically speaking.

If your brother is being harrassed, he needs to take a recording device (micro recorder, made in China, cheap) with him at all times.

The corruption in this country runs so deep that your small town cops are going to be the least of your problems in a few months.

Without proof, the FBI won't do anything. Just make sure you check state laws as it may be illegal to record the conversation if in public.

maybe you should try putting all of your facts together and going to the higher ups if you are really concerned.

1) if he pulled a gun on a 12 year old with no witnesses, how do you know this is true?? What if the kid was lying??

2) explain what the "harrassing" is to your brother. your definition may not be enough to actually warrant harrassment, it could annoy you, but be perfectly legal for him to do.

3) Phsyically harrassing your brother? do you have proof? do you mean he slaps, punches, or kicks your brother?

You can always speak with the mayor, the town council, the media, the FBI, the state police, etc.. you have plenty of options if you want to use them, but becareful.. spreading false rumors about people pulling guns on kids and beating people up can get you in a WORLD of hurt!

you can't unless the city councel wakes up and lke our small town they found out got rid of them and then got a good cop and got rid of him cuse he was too honest for them and they couldn't stand having to fight for what they kenw what wrong. they didn't want tickets and stuff to them and they got rid of them. its sam thing here if its that bad i would leave this town and find another one or go to bigger city you can take it or leave it.

Didn;t you figure it out by now? Many police in the US are like gang members themselves. Be careful. You are safer in Iraq with all those terrorists Americans write about.

Take the problem with your mayor, he would probably have a good way of dealing with it. If he doesn't agree with you, you may take it to higher authority and from there up.

Apply for a job as a police oficer. Work your way to the top. Change the way things are done. OR run for mayor and fire him.
