It is the lifestyle we are raised in.
we are a country built off feeding off the oppressed and stricken, poor social programs and everyone told to live "the dream" many not winning.
Our systems are built around keeping many in debt and we seek quick remedy for everything. We see the surface of so much, but with the ignorance of history we have little self observance over many other societies in the world. The result? Aggressive, stressed out, depressed citizens with few avenues of release. Guns ideally are a right to people, but a problem is we have such a poor awareness of socialization and community, and worst, history.
i think we could take them away, but there's always a way of getting weapons. There are plenty rally groups pressing to remove guns from every household in the united states. Others just want more regulation, and I already feel like there's enough regulation, which is needed.
Part of what I'm speaking on can be witnessed right now. So many people posting have an image of all people in jail being "bad" or "criminal" while saying "good" or "innocent people" have the right to have guns. As though the community and society we live in doesn't shape our attitude, or even mental condition.
Instead i think changing the social climate is more necessary to reduce hostility and climactic situations we face. |

I live in Texas and we have a conceled handgun law where we can take a class and carry a weapon in our purses, under our jackets, ect...also if we are traveling in Texas and are going at least 2 counties away from our home, we can carry a gun in plain site, like on the seat of our car but it can't be loaded and we have to keep the bullets in the glovebox or somewhere else.
Here, you never know if the person you are going to try to rob or rape or whatever, is carring a weapon. We haven't had a school shooting. If I am not mistaken, our crime rate has actually gone down. Especially in the smaller towns. There is an old joke in Texas that says a judge will not give you any punishment for killing someone "if they needed a killing"... and if you do kill someone, you might want to make sure "they needed a killing" as we lead the country in death penalities carried out... |

i carry a gun everywhere i go and i have a permit to carry . if VT let those kids carry a gun or at least the teachers the disaster would not have happened, if someone in church had a gun that would have come to a quick end also , and at the Mall where that disaster took place !! they would not be so quick to pull a trigger if they thought others had a firearm also and i am sure i will get tons of thumbs down but i will not be begging for my life like a rat !! |

America has the Second Amendment. A person may carry a concealed weapon as long as they have a permit to do so. Unfortunatley criminals commit crimes with firearms. Gun control for law abiding citizens is wrong. Why punish them when it's the criminals wrongdoing! |

Right no gun crime in UK, however they just banned sumarii swords in London due to 'sword' killings. One fella apparently went and killed some 11 people in one rampage.
Firearms are not the problem.
Sick people having a place they can go and wreck unrestricted havok (Malls, schools, etc) where none can defend themselves is the problem.
And for the innocent animals comment above.... every year we find one and sometimes two carcass's in our back woods, dead deer from starvation. Thats why we fill our refridgerator each fall during season. Better to utilize the meat than let it waste and suffer. |

Because it is a CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT.
Unfortunately, guns sometimes fall into the wrong hands. The people who are shooting in the schools possess the firearms illegally (they were not allowed to purchase them, didn't have a license to carry them, etc, obviously because they were underage).
No matter what law is in place, criminals and crazy people will probably always have access to guns.
By the way - you might want to rethink your spelling/grammar |

In my state it is legal to carry a firearm if you have a right to carry permit. Getting one takes a thorough background check and on average the people who have right to carry permits have better criminal records than our police. |

Yes, we can carry guns. |

Its called, the right to carry law & we've paid for it in our freedom. The UK isn't doing "that" well not having guns to protect their families. The internet is full of instances of the UK about this subject. I'm surprised you didn't know! |

you are quite correct , people just " BLOW UP " city blocks in the UK ....
are you freaking CRAZY !! |

Yes, we can carry guns. The hard part about those shootings is they happened in gun-free zones. If just one person in the mall or at the school had a gun than there would have been no massacre. Just witness the church shooting. One young woman with a gun and no massacre occurs. What it boils down to is that good people with the proper permits do not go out and kill others. It is people who do not respect laws that do. I suspect the main difference between the UK and the USA is that we have always had a gun culture from the time we were colonies we have always had to defend ourselves and this attitude has not changed. |

because if you passed a law to violate our constitutional right to carry a firearm, it isn't like the bad guys are going to turn their in. only those who are afriad fo the law will obey the law. and, your crime rate is not that low. look at england and australias violent crime rates. australias soared after their gun ban. because the only ones with guns were the criminals. |

One of the items on their Bill Of Rights, gives them they right to bare arms.
Of course the good guys need a permit to carry, the bad guys... |

It's an amendment in our constitution. Everyone has the right to bear arms.
There are limitations to this, of course. No person under 18 can own or carry a rifle, unless hunting. No person under 21 can carry a pistol.
There are people who break these laws though, and thats why there are shootings. |

In certain states like Indiana you can carry a license gun on you. |

because we kicked the Brit's @$$ out of our country and we have the right to carry, but throughout the US we do need to impose strong regulation on buying and selling of weapon to ensure such thing stop occurring |

Ya, not much gun crime over there. You were foreced to come up with much more creative methods of violent crime. We will just stick to the guns.
The actual reason is because the right to have guns is one of the founding ideas of this country.I cant say that is an awesome idea, but there it is. I dont think we are going to be doing away with them. |

Focusing on 'gun' violence is unfair. Look at per capital violent crimes around the world. The USA is something like 26th. We have gun rights because it is spelled out in our Constitution that we can have them. |

Because parents lack providence, respect, and discipline for there children. I live in a big city with alot to do especially for young children. If were license we can carry but for some good reason...alot of my friends are court officers and they have to drive through bad bad neighborhoods to deliver sapinas and they have to carry. Not for nothing but if someone breaks in my house at night theres a good chance they will have a hole in them. question is where are the parents here with their children? today both mom and dad go out to work to make and income which leaves hardly to non supervision for their children where their there to fend for their selves.....years ago the mother stood home cooked cleaned and raised their children and you never heard of things like this hap pining...now a days it seems money is more inportantant then raising your children |

Yes, people who pass a background check and those who are not convicted felons can carry them. The reasoning is within our Constitution, which states we have the right to bear arms. Also the states may place restrictions on it, but that is the primary reason. |

America is not a communist country yet, so it allows innocent people to buy a license and carry a gun for protection because we have more criminals than cops. Are crime rate is unbearable and one day all innocent Americans will carry a gun and the crime rate will depreciate! Criminals carry guns because they steel them from innocent people or buy them from someone who has stole them. I ammend my right to carry and alot of people do. If the government took that right from us, criminals would not stop owning guns. The innocent people would be the only ones punished! Innocent people are afraid to own a gun, but hopefully one day will wake up and defend thierselves!!!! |

Because the criminals will ALWAYS have guns. Gun control is based on the individual state. And yes, you can carry a gun with a valid gun permit in the United States. And FYI, there are 100x more people in America than the UK.
A little help for you on your spelling and grammar.
ARE people in America allowed to carry guns?
'don't hear' |

Don't worry we let people drive cars also and about 60,000 people die a year from that |

Yes you can carry a gun in the US. Each state is different as to the manner of carrying the gun. Many states have a permit you can get that allows you to carry a concealed handgun.
Guns may not be carried in many places, such as government buildings, schools, places where alcohol is served, banks even with a permit unless you are a police officer.
In the US, the argument most used for carrying guns is that if normal citizens weren't allowed to have guns, then only the criminals would have guns.
I really don't know what the best answer is. |

your required to have a background check before allowed to own guns above a certain calaber plus you must register your firearms

Yeah they do, its part of their constitutional right to carry one as a way of protecting themselves. What they need protecting from is their meat heads! |

Yes if you have a permit you can carry a gun in the cary one in the car for like sppecial emergencies.. but it's not a good idea to carry one in your pocket unless you are like a cop or something |
