Yes, they do.
I was with my uncle when he got pulled over. He accepted the ticket and didn't even mention that he was also a police officer. |

yes they do. There are those cops that won't write another cop a ticket, but it is becoming more rare. |

A local department got in a "ticket war" with the DPS onetime. We were all advised in briefing not to get into one ourselves into one. |

Most cops don't get speeding tickets in this area.
Ford employees get discounted cars
McDonald's employees get free food
H&R Block employees get free tax help
People don't like to consider it a job perk, but hey, I'm not going to write a cop. Same as I won't write my mother or sister. |

Highway Patrol cuts breaks for no officer> They know the law, Obey or pay! You ever hear " 9 your fine 10 your mine ". |

I don't know about that, but I've seen on-duty officers misuse their flashing lights just to avoid waiting at a red light (they turned them off immediately after going through the light). Worst of all, I saw one ride his motorcycle up the line between two lanes of traffic just to get in front of everyone else and wait IN THE CROSSWALK until the red light turned to green. This would be about three violations if anyone else did it.
If they're going to enforce the law, they really should obey it too. I understand the need to speed or run red lights when in hot pursuit of a suspect, but that wasn't the case in the examples above. By the way, for those of you who don't know it, stopping in the crosswalk is the same as running a red light because it's on the wrong side of the white line. Sometimes it's worse because it can be more of a hazard to pedestrians. |

I know several cops and none of them have ever got a ticket for speeding when they are pulled over. A lot of it may have to do with the "code" that cops follow to protect their own. I can't say all cops get out of tickets though. Just the ones I know. |

Sometimes cops get warnings. But a lot of times there is animosity between different departments and cops from other departments are more than happy to give an off duty cop a ticket. |

Yes it occurs, I know an officer who was issued a Notice to Appear for a Fish and Wildlife offence. The F & W officer knew that the other guy was a cop.
I also know cops who have written ex-sheriff's bc the ex-sheriff is consistently speeding. Officers can cut breaks. So the first time you pull over an ex-sheriff you tell him to slow down and think "Ok buddy this one's on me, but the next one's on you" Then the next time you stop him (speeding thru a school zone) well guess who's toting a ticket!!
But yes, "Professional Courtesy" does exist; however, it is at the discretion of the officer who made the traffic stop to decide if they want to use it.
Daydoom3 is correct. I have heard local stories of officers being arrested for DUI. That is not the smart thing to do, but they make mistakes like the rest of us. Something like that will ruin a cop's career. |

Yes. My fiance was a part time cop and my ex. was a cop. Both men have gotten speeding tickets. They cannot hide behind that badge when it comes to public safety. Of course they don't when in pursuit of anyone breaking the law. |

"Code of Honor"....cops don't squeal on other cops. No pun intended. |

Sure they do... I saw an LAPD patrol car pulled over by a CHP officer once.
... and yes, I laughed my *** off when I saw that. |

Certainly not all the time, but usually. Common sense says that if you clocked another officer from your own or a neighboring department for a speed not too much over, you probably would just issue a warning. It depends on his/her attitude, I suppose. Immediately producing a badge or telling me you're a cop as soon as I approach your car is almost a guarantee of a ticket. If you mouth off because I give you one I will be talking to your supervisor as soon as I can. |

I would think that they do. Just in order to show the people that the law is really enforced. |

No. They pull out their badge and get off without even a warning. |

They got some sort of diplomatic immunity.
Being a cop is part of a culture, where they look out for their own. |

I asked a cop once when he pulled me over for doin 96 in an 80 zone. He said that cops are not above the law. But when I pressed him, he said he personally had never gotten a speeding ticket in his life because he has never sped in his life! What's he been driving -a bicycle? Like he's never gone over 100 on the 401!!! I laughed in his face and he gave me a ticket. |

Yes they get stop. Then flash their badge and for professional courtesy. They chuckle, and swop stories and drive away.
Yes I knew several police. They consider themselves safer drivers and "Oops" you know how to drive, so go on about your way, good cop driver, you're not going to kill anyone.
"Silly me" |

If there is an emergency, no, but if there isn't, the camera in the police car catches everything he does. The officer might get a pay cut or get suspened without pay. Rarely a cop will get fired or demoted. |

No, they get their way out of it I'm sure.
I see them speeding all the time with no lights on and stuff like that all the time. D:
I want to do a citizens arrest one day. |

Cops don't give other cops citations. You're a member of the club. However, the police department does take reports from citizens of reckless driving and other bad behavior by officers seriously. |

Does a bear use a rabbit for toilet paper? I have only heard of one cop who got a ticket! The real surprise is that he wrote it himself, NOW THAT'S INTEGRITY!!!! Here in Oklahoma they have a little sticker or ???? that attaches to their license plate. If I remember correctly it is in the upper left corner!!! If you think that's BS , let them haul you 20 miles to county driving 90mph at 3am. I believe that would fall under attempted murder by cop standards!!!! They are the ones who jump in front of a moving car and try to claim it was attempted murder, right!!!! Shouldn't we charge them with Public Ignorance or Successful Stupidity? There is a video on tv where they say they jumped in front of the car and he didn't stop so these morons opened fire with automatic weapons and killed the man. I GUARANTEE THAT MAN NEVER WAS CLOSE ENOUGH TO ANY OF THOSE IDIOTS TO EVEN LOOK AT THEM FUNNY!!!!! |
