Do female cops join the force because they want to become macho or did daddy want a boy?

I'm sure all daddy's want a boy....but that's irrelevant.

I have several reasons....yes, I like the feeling of the badge, I like guns and donuts, and I like to drive fast. But it's more than that. I like the independence and autonomy of the individuals, but also the knowledge that every single other cop has my back. I want to do something I can be proud of. I want to help people, and get criminals off the streets. I know the dangers and the stresses of consistently seeing the worst in society, but the one time I can save someones life will make it all worthwhile.

REPLY: Actually yes, I did play with dolls and frilly things. I had barbies and hair bows, I was a cheerleader... I wear a lot of pink, I love heels. I can cook, I can sew. I'm not worried about turning out like Rosie, I know it will never happen. I may be pursuing a male dominated career but I'm a woman, through and through. Are you intimidated by tough, driven females?

They simply wanted to be a police officer and have a carreer. Nice generalization about the donuts Skippy. The next time you have some thug pinning your back to the wall, don't call the Police.

We are in this profession because we want to be. I am tops in my dept. in many areas and am also a supervisor. What were you saying about a paper bag?

EDIT: I am NOT on a desk job, I'm a STREET supervisor. You keep posting this SAME LAME "question" just under different screen names. Grow up and get over the fact that we as females are as good or better than our male co-workers. Deal with it.

I'M a female and I want to become a police officer...I don't want to become a cop because of macho or because daddy wanted a boy...its because as a woman I want to serve and protect the Innocent children,men and women of our country...its true that many female act as if they wore the men...those are the ones that are in the job just to show off....and yeah its a shame that some act like macho and can't whip their way out of a paper bag....I believe that most female had joined the force for the same purpose I want...

I, Don't agree with your premise that it is a Macho thing,
or a daddy wanted a boy thing, There are many well qualified
female police officers. Have you not ever heard the term
don't judge a book by its cover. In the format of years ago
for Police officers, you had a height and weight requirement,
physicality had to be consummate to your size. You were
expected to portray a certain image the L.E.A. wanted it's
public to perceive. Those days are gone with the advent of
PC, EEOC, Special Interest and PAC involvement. Your no
Longer allowed to portray any Image accept that of equality.

And as that should be the deciding criteria for acceptance
in a Law Enforcement career.

It is now widely known that female police can be more effective when calm, diplomacy and negotiation are critical to diffuse a situation. All police know that female police are generally better at making the baddies back down.

Australian police have to do university degrees these days. Brains are better than braun ;)

The police force is not all about being macho and not all male police are macho. Though I have seen some very built women in the tactical response unit who could give you something else to cry about.
