all the cop took down was my name and address but didn't take down my liscense number or my plate number. he didnt even ask for my registration

Did you receive a citation? If so, you will have to answer to it. You can take up the matter in court, but don't plan on it making a difference. As long as the officer can identify you and testify to the violation, the citation will most likely stand. |

Your best bet is to contact the courts and ask them these questions. They are the ones who will process your ticket and will know all the laws and regulation. You should also ask the courts if you are allowed to take a driving school class. This will prevent your insurance from going up and points from being placed on your license. Just make sure you get the courts permission before doing so. If you don’t the courts will reject your driving school certificate. Good luck! |

If your plate is on your car, he doesn't need your plate number. He can get all of your registration information from you plate. So he doesn't need to ask for any of this.
Did you get a ticket? If so, then yes, you have to pay even if he didn' ask these things, he didn't need to. |
