If all i am going to do is show that i did have proof of Insurance on the day of the accident. My citation was for Failure to provide proof of insurance. So if i just show the judge this, it should be dropped right? The state i live in is Virginia if you needed to know.

It would be a waste of money to hire an attorney. It may be dropped all together or they may downgrade the citation to "Failure to exhibit documents". Which only consists of a fine. Just make sure you bring your current valid insurance card with you to court. And make sure it was valid on/before the ticket was issued. If you were not insured at the time of the citation, it will show on your insurance card and you are looking at heavy fines and lose of license.

No, you don't need an attorney. You'll probably just meet with a clerk for 5 min and be good to go. |

Definitely not! Don't waste your money. It's just a citation and you had insurance at the time, so you're fine. You may have to see the judge, you may not. Here in California, usually you just go to the clerk for most tickets and pay a processing fee ($10) and the fine if there is one. It should say on your ticket if you have a fine to pay.
Man you guys are lucky! In California, they can impound your car and suspend your license for failure to show insurance!

No you do not need a lawyer. In some states you can just take your proof to the court clerk before your court date and not even have to go to court |

In Illinois, if you receive a citation for Operation of a Motor Vehicle without Insurance, just because you did not have your insurance card, you need to obtain the current documentation of valid insurance and take it to the circuit clerks office, traffic division, and they will drop the ticket. Not sure what the laws are in Virginia? |
