Do police officers listen to the people they pull over?

They're all different dude. Every one of them. They all handle their jobs differently. and it depends on the situation. If the officer was following you for 3 miles and you crossed the center line 9 times in those 3 miles, and you weaving within your own lane, then chances are after he stops you, he already has it in his mind that you may be intoxicated. It just depends on the officer and the situation. It's a crap-shoot everytime. I've seen 'em all. Horrible ones that were terrible officers and bad liars in court, down to the most honest, nicest guys you'd ever like to meet. The nicest officer I ever had the pleasure of being pulled over by was an Oregon State Trooper in Umatilla County. The worst? Sheriff's deputies in Rock Island, county, Illinois -john in iowa

Depends on the officer. So its both yes and no. But no matter what anyone says, they do not always listen. Case in point: the officer that pulled over the NFL player in the hospital parking lot while trying to rush to his dying mother-in-law's beside. That officer was suspended and is now facing the possibility of not only having charges filed against him, but a civil lawsuit as well.

Sure we listen but we also have a reason for pulling you over ie you broke a law.Attitude counts for a lot don't be a smart a--.

Some do, some don't. Look at the cop who pulled over Ryan Moats a few nights ago- he was driving his mother-in-law to the hospital and was stopped for running a red light. Even though he pleaded with the cop the seriousness of the situation, he WOULD NOT LISTEN. Moats' mother-in-law DIED because of it.

they have no reason to listen, but will bait you into saying something aggressive so they can escalate the encounter.

they are going to give you a ticket no matter what you have to say. "personalities" should not enter into a traffic stop. they should ALL obide by the amendments and stop hassling people.

We always listen, even if we had made up our minds we are human and things can change. But what we are doing while listening, is listening for self-incriminating statements to use against you later in court.
Your best bet is just to answer the questions asked and be polite.

no! cop asked if i had drugs i said no, then he asked to search the car, i said no, then he pulls me out of car, handcuffs me, brings dog in and has it sniff around, searches my car, doesnt find any drugs and then tells me to get outta hear. he didnt listen to me when i told him i didnt have drugs. im gonna sue him.
