Do suspects get notified when someone files a police report against them?

I filed a police report against my child's father,he got completely out of line,i filed for verbal abuse,threat and verbal argument which the police clerk put down on the report as disorderly conduct under domestic violence [because we have a child in common][no physical harm].he has never seen my child since the birth and all of the sudden because paternity is in the process of getting establish he threatens me to take my child from me, and i feel no need to put up with his bs,i was denied the restraining order petition bc there was not any physical threats.Do you think he has been at least notified if the police report?

If you made a report and charged someone with what a officer deems a crime they will contact him for sure. Will he pay any consequences for this? Probably not much unless hes got priors or doesn't show up to court, but to clear this he has to go to court and to get to court the report has to be completed and that can't happen till they talk to him. On the other hand if he threatens to hurt you in any way shape or form thats terrorist threats and is a real big no-no. I know someone who was going through it with their soon to be ex and said, like we all have " If you do that I'll kill ya", regarding something or other, and he got a year in jail. But thats not the case. As far as I know you could get a restraining order if you really felt you were in danger and could prove why, not just if he had already hurt you. If nothing else this report and charge you made will be proof of on going problems for future reference, ya know, to prove this guy has got a anger problem thats scaring you and this report can help prove your point. Depends how well run your local police agency is. But generally speaking, yes, he should be informed sooner or later.

if you filed a police report then yes he will be notified because the police have to get his side of the story and by law he has to be notified....

Otherwise what would be the point of the report? Its like telling someone you can not do something but were not telling you what. lol

no, they don't just for a police report, unless you actually take him to court, or charges were filed. Then he would get a notice of appearance. The police report just puts proof of past incidences to use if it ever makes its way to court.
