I don't dislike them - I just wish they would do the job they are paid to do! If you live where I live - you'll know what I mean! |

A lot of them are really good people and do a really hard and necessary job. Unfortunately a lot of them also let their gun and badge go to their head and abuse their power. It's usually the second type you hear about more than the first type. Just like with any other kind of news, bad news gets more viewers than good news. |

I didn't until my fiancee and I were bullied and threatened by one because her son was driving without a license. |

No I don't.
When I was in high school (10 years ago) The Police took a cop off of the street and put him into a school because he was harassing black people in the streets. That made no sense to me but they did. I don't know why they thought it would make a black kids learning environment any easier. A year or 2 after I graduated he got fired for harassing the students.
And to that person that said i don't committ crimes so they don't bother me... I was pulled over and searched for 30 min. you know what my crime was? Driving a rental car. It doesn't pay to live in the south and deal with cops but that doesn't mean it's any better in NY |

As a Police K-9 Officer myself I can say I understand why people may dislike us. It only takes 1 bad cop to make us look bad. That goes for any profession. I try to keep that in prospective when people are unpleasant for no reason. I don't take it personal. |

I like em. |

I dislike Police Officers who don't do their jobs, just like I don't like cashiers that don't do their jobs.
But I am biased in that I was a cop for 21 years, so rally on cop haters! The cops will still show up to bail you out, unlike what some of the deluded posters here would have you believe. |

only when driving behind me....i always feel guilty-even though i'm all legal!! a decent manner and a showing of common sense in small matters goes a long way.but as always one or two 'bad' ones spoil it for the rest. |

What I dislike is their code of silence. If they know who the bad apples are, why they don't do something about it? Don't they realize the bad apples make all of them look bad? |

Yes because instead of applying common sense they just follow rules (except those that apply to them) .
After the war it was decided that war criminals could not simply say "we were following orders"
Yet the police have adopted this policy entirely . |

If they cross the line, they should be disliked. For example..using unecessary force in arrest and using unecessary force for peaceful protesters. |

Yes. I had my keys out of the car and was walking inside when a cop decided he would run my license plate. he cited me on christmas eve. i had to take back gifts in order to pay the fine! i will think long and hard at the ballot box next time for pay raises for police in my area. |

We drove across the strre from the apt. complex which was a about 200 yards from the store, instead of writting me a tickett they searched me, my friends and the car.As they were leaving I asked if we had been 50 year old women would they have searced us and they said no. Like them? not anymore. |

Why would I? They help us out. They may get to be a pain after working with them so long ((they are persistent)) but they are generally nice people who look out for us. |

Police officers are no different to other people. Some are even human ! ! ! ! I don't dislike many people. I try to see the good in most people. I worked with lots of police officers. Some I liked and some I didn't. (Obviously couldn't see the good in the ones I didn't like.) |
