No. As long as both parties exchange contact info and insurance info then no.
All a cop is gonna do, is come and pretty much do the same thing. However the cop may decide to issue a citation for whoever they deem at fault. (Inattention to driving, following to closely, etc.)
Just make sure you look at the other parties insurance card and write down all info. Registration too. So that way when you file a claim with your insurance, they will have all the info they need to persue the other person if they were at fault. Or vice versa if you were at fault.
However both parties need to agree to not call the cops. If one wants too then the other needs to comply. If not and they leave, then once the cops arrive then the party that left could be charged with fleeing the scene of an accident.
So communication is key.
But check with your state. Laws vary. |

It is generally a good idea. It saves you from ever being accused of leaving the scene of an accident. Also if you are planning on using your insurance (or claiming on someone else's), they are going to be far less helpful if there is no police report.
If it is a minor ding and both parties agree to forget about it, then that's a different story. |

Not if both people are fine with it. |

it's the "right thing to do"
i don't get into a lot of accidents, but when it isn't my fault I call the police right away haha |

No. You can settle it between yourselves and swap information for insurance purposes. If it happened on private property, like an apartment parking lot then the police won't respond anyway. |

No , but to have insurance pay for it , it is usually required.
If the parties all agree that it's no big deal , then that's fine. |

No, unless injury or a thousand dollars in damages or more. |
|

yeah.
|
nope you can make an agreement between the person you had an accident with..or if you just crashed you don't have to if you don't want to get insurance involved because by getting insurance involved for a minor accident it will increase your insurance ratesss...but you only have 30 days to report on accident on the flip side if youw anna get your insurance involved |

in my state if there is no physical damage
or visual damage to the cars paint scrapes dont count
and no bodily injury
on any one involved the cops dont need to be called
as its not a matter the insurance companies want to deal with
why fuss and fume over minor scrapes to your bumper let it go and move on its not worth 4 hours of investigation for 50 bucks worth of damage |

In the city that I live in the police will not come to a accident if it is minor and none of the drivers are intoxicated and has a valid license and insurance. They inform you to exchange license and insurance information and turn it into your insurance agent. |

No, a cop doesn't have to intervene, unless there's a disagreement
between the two people. |

It is up to you and the person you crashed into. Always a great idea to call cops unless you've got some illegal stuff with you ;) I would always call anyway, because "trading" insurance information can always fall through and there is no way of getting your car fixed if it's not your fault w/o a police report. |

No. If it is a small fender bender that isn't causing major traffic issues, all involved stayed on the scene, are cooperating and can provide proof of insurance and registration, and no one is injured, you don't need to involve the police unless you want to. |

sure if you wont a hit a run incident |

 |
nope.
You can work out a deal with the person you hit, or that hurt you.
They usually just go get an estimate, whom over estimate by a hundred dollars or so, and then you just pay them the estimate.
The other person usually pockets the money, because who cares if your car has a dent?
It saves your auto insurance though. :) |
