Funny, the few cops I've run into who are badge-thumping, blue-suited bozos generally don't last too long as cops, or are already bounced off the job. But the most of them have been professional and courteous, and frankly, the offenses they've stopped me for... well, I did it, so I can't blame them for doing their job. So, yeah, in general, I like the police. And as individuals, I've found them likeable, too. |

Someone breaks into your house and steals everything. Who are you going to call?
Someone robs you at gun point at night.Who are you going to call?
Need I go on? Make a joke, laugh about the doughnuts, but seriously - most are the best.
Do you have scam artists as salesman? Yes. There's bad people everywhere - but a police officer sees danger, blood, violence, and crime every day.
When was the last time you simply said "Thank you" to a Police Officer?

It's unfortunate that several people on here have made up their mind because of one person they knew (step-father) or one who gave them a ticket, and the opinion is we are all bad.
It's apparently "cool" to say you don't like cops and to talk about how all of us are bad, crooked, on the take, etc. With very few exceptions, things like that have not happened in quite some time.
Are there guys who should not be cops? Sure, even us on the job will say that. But that goes for any profession. So do you hate electricians because they charge so much? Hate plumbers because you can't fix your own toilet? Then why generalize when it comes to officers.
For all of those who have posted the immature respondes, remember, you may not like us, you may hate us, you may stand by and watch as we fight with a suspect.....but in the end, we would STILL risk our lives to save yours.
Anyone who wears a badge instantly gets 50% of my respect.....they earn the other 50%. Yes, I love all my brothers who do the job. |

No, but it's irrelevant. They don't care whether we do or not. They just want us to obey the laws and keep out of their way. How can you like someone who punishes for a living or could kill you in a heartbeat for making a careless gesture? From where I stand, the police culture is a closed society, tight as a brick of coffee. My member name is an indication of my feelings for the police and the initial reason why I signed up. Actually, I think I have a lot in common with them.
I have been screening several of the pro-police members for your question. It's got to be more than a coincidence that most law enforcers who come here ask almost no questions. They seem to think they alone have the answers in this section of Yahoo. Religion is fun to visit, but law enforcement is personal and bad for my blood pressure. |

every male member on my fathers side of the family has been involved in law enforcement since the days when they rode a horse. my father retired after 35yrs behind the badge. i was a deputy sheriff for 6 years. police officers are people just like in any other trade or profession, most of them are good people while others are the type of people you just tolerate because you have to work with them. most of them really do care about other people. so i guess my answer would be that i like most of them but not all. |

Not always, it seems that they have major issues with being nerdy or wimpy as teens and this is how they make up for it.
I've never been in trouble with the law, had tickets, etc. This is just my honest opinion. |
