i been thinking of what i want to do as a career and cop keeps coming up and i was just wondering what is the best rout to take can i just go to college and join the academy or do i have to be in the military to be a cop

Requirements for law enforcement are determined by state law and department policy, so they will vary.
Military experience is desirable, but no department will require it.
Many departments have websites with recruitment information. You can do an internet search of a few in your area, and you will get a good idea of what you need to do to qualify. |

In my town, about 20 percent of the cops are veterans. Other departments are different, but I don't know of any department that REQUIRES an applicant to be a vet. |
