If you don't commit a crime in his county then you won't have to worry about the inhumane conditions. I always love how people break the laws and then complain they aren't getting treated right. F**k em. |

yes they are criminals. |

Yes! If you can't do the time, don't do the crime. |

Dont break the law in the greater Phoenix area and you have little to worry about. |

It's called jail. Everyone knows about the Arizona prisons. So, don't commit the crimes.
I agree with you. The many undocumented immigrants should be saved from Arpaio's jail... sent back to their home countries where they would be much better treated. |

If they were toughest enough to do the crime, they should be tough enough to wear pink boxers. It's about time somebody did something about these "tough guys." I say more power to Sheriff Arpaio! |

I think you should go do your time like a man and stop crying about it... I personally think sheriff Arpaio should run for president the man is a Genius and a hero to all law enforcement officers everywhere..so you broke the law...sorry about that...your going to get hot and learn what hard manual labor is all about...sorry about that too...mostly ..hopefully you will learn not to commit any more crimes and keep your self out of jail forever!!!!
sheriff joe Arpaio for president!!!!! |

I am really sorry that you have to go to Arizona as it is a pretty state but it is extremely hot there. I was there once for a week end on the July 4th, and ended up staying in my hotel room as the heat made me pass out. It is true that our Army and military suffer from the heat and they are serving our country. This is a very complex question. Please try searching for a way to Appeal or to fight your case on the Internet. I hope the situation works out. Good Luck. |

1 Don't compare convicted inmates to our soldiers serving overseas. That's comparing apples to a**holes.
#2 Why didn't you give this amount of thought to prison conditions, BEFORE you decided to commit a crime?
I admire Sheriff Arpaio for his balls. No doubt he's taken a lot of heat (pun intended) for his stance. A stance that law-biding citizens call reasonable and fair. Not harsh or inhumane. Harsh and inhumane are the terms the victims of these felons are entitled to use.
I think it's a pretty fair assumption that the chance of many of these inmates returning is lower than most other correctional facilities in the country. This is the purpose of prisons, not sitting on your butt reading or watching TV in air conditioned comfort.
One word of advice- sunscreen.... |

Sheriff Joe has been named in over 4700 lawsuits (I checked Federal Court records). Thats a lot of opposition.
Phoenix was a very nice 90 degrees today, but I wouldn't want to spend it in tent city |

This guy is my hero!
I wish all jails were run in the same way.
We all have old folk who have contributed to the taxes of their respective countries and are now unable to afford heating, lighting and health care, or having to sell their homes to pay residential care costs.
I know where I'd rather MY tax money be spent - and it isn't to make criminals' lives more comfortable! |
|

Joe T

Wow, I almost needed a tissue thinking about those poor little misunderstood criminals sweating in those tents. NOT! His methods should be adopted everywhere. And he's absolutely right, those soldiers out in the desert are in full combat gear in that heat, not running around in their skivvies like these convicts are. So stay out of trouble and you won't have to worry about jail, will you? Hopefully, the conditions in Arpaio's jails will make criminals think twice about a life a crime once they are released. Bravo to him. You might want to rent the flick 'Cool Hand Luke' before your incarceration. It will introduce you to a chain gang. Good luck. |

Yes, you lose the right to freedom and fairness when you commit a crime. serve your time and stop griping. dont commit the crime if you don't wanna do the time- it ain't a hotel.
ps. hope you look good in pink! |

oh, its horrible *gasp*
you've committed a crime and violated someone's civil rights, possibly murdered some child or something, and you're complaining about the "inhumanity"...
uh huh.. cry me a river...
sure, they may want to get revenge when they get out.. and they can go right back in... please, commit revenge...spend 50 years in that situation...
and the best thing, it costs less than "regular" jails.. cuz really, why should we spend so much money on scum? |
|

David B
|
It's JAIL, it's NOT a HOTEL!! It's supposed to be PUNISHMENT, and NOT a VACATION!! Who cares how much of his PERSONAL money he spends on his dogs, the jail's meals come from TAX PAYER money, so people should be happy that he's saving them money. Also as long as the meals are healthy and proper- who cares how much they cost?
BTW- Those inmates are living in the SAME tents that our SOLDIERS are using in Iraq right now. Do you really think that inmates should be able to demand better living conditions than our soldiers?

People are forgetting that this is only a county jail, not a State Pen. Many people in county jails have not been proven guilty yet. They are being held for a court date, and many will be found innocent later on. Why torture them when we don't know the truth yet? |
|

... ^-^
|
Although this may encourage people who are gonna get out not to break the law again...
it may also make them hate the law,and want revenge no matter what the cost is.. i guess that's how the criminal mind works.
also god is the one who should be able to do that,no human has the right to imprison another,or be cruel to them.
(well that's what i think anyway =S ) |
|

Paul B
|
This guy is evil. Every decent person in the area including McCain has campaigned against him. I actually knew someone who died from the treatment he received in these tents.
He also makes a massive profit from selling catering concessions.
It is high time he was busted for "cruel and unusual punishment" (if you don't recognize the quote, read the Constitution). |

Yes he is in humane and I really hope someone in his family ends up in the slammer and treated that way. |
