Look at the drug control we have! Obviously that doesn't work.

Guns are a means to kill, just like poison or knives or baseball bats.

Outlawing something doesn't make it inaccessible. In fact the states that have high degrees of gun control also have the highest rates of armed robbery and homicide by gun wounds. The states with hardly any gun control laws actually have very low numbers in violence-by-guns rates.

Education is the true answer. Education and awareness. This kid-killer showed so many signs and all of them were ignored.

Let's see, this happened on a gun free campus. When the state made laws that made the campus a gun free zone the President of the College made a speech telling everybody how that was going to make the students safe.

We do not need more gun laws, what we need is enforcement of the laws that we do have, and what we need is to allow law abiding citizens to carry guns.

Vermont has no gun laws, but they also have the lowest levels of violent/gun related crimes in the country.

No. He acquired his guns legally. And if they were illegal by some laws that people want to put in place, he would've either attained them illegally or used a different type of weapon.

No, absolutely not. The shooter was willing to violate the law (murder, brining a firearm onto campus, etc)...so how will creating yet another law stop someone like this? They will find a way. Afterall, cocaine is illegal and look around at how much of that is on the street!

If anything, an honest armed citizen (or several) could have stopped this thing a bit sooner and lowered the body count significantly.

oh sure, I think they should start teaching the other students that control means both hands for a better aim. He wouldn't have made it that far.
Besides if somebody was going to "break the law" to murder people, don't you think they wouldn't be worried about getting guns illegally, or even using something worse.

So far, every response has been anti gun control.
Let me offer another view. Gun control would not have prevented this tragedy, and this should not become a gun control issue. That being said, a bit more gun control would not be a bad thing. We have a young man who was able to buy two guns despite having been involuntarily committed to a mental institution. Somehow, I don't think that even the most ardent of the gun proponents would favor that.
I'm not sure how we go about making involuntary mental health commitments a part of the gun buying process, but I don't think it is a bad idea.

hell yes! the gun control in malaysia is very strict. we don't have any problem regarding VT incident in here (students kills people i say)
