I think it should be banned in shops, and only available in pubs/bars/restaurants etc. where strict measures are taken to ensure no underage people purchase it. |

Its already illegal for the under 18s, and 12 year old kids on council estates still drink. |

WHAT!! shut up woman |

no! i am 23 and i am an adult.. why cant i buy drink? i am not a kid! |

Noooo! i agree there should be a limit so people don't drink when they purchase alcohol, but you cannot control it.
i am 18 today so obviously i disagree, should stay at 18 yr olds, that's safe,
i think alcohol sellers need to be tougher. |

no, I just think people should be a bit more strict on ID and stop serving 16 year olds in pubs. Even if the age was 25 kids would find a way to get hold of it. |

Wheres the fun in that?
It needs to be more readily available, maybe in pill form. |

everything in this country that is illegal for under certain ages is still done by the underage kids, the solution is not to set more limits but to enforce the limits we have |

No your an adult once you're 18 so you can make your own decisions. |
|

Ben

No, if they're going to do that they may as well make it completely illegal. That'd be ridiculous. |

I am in the US and its 21 here let me just say that it makes very little dif. There is always a way to get it. Find a homeless guy and pay him to get it is a common way here. Besides 25 is a bit old to prohibit something. |

Pffff! Good luck enforcing that law! It would never happen. |

No.. you have to at least allow people some kind of way to unwind. Just because you have a couple of trouble-makers doesn't mean we have to ruin it for the honest people who just like to have a drink after work or whatever.
What we SHOULD ban is the bloody PC do-gooders trying to ban everything and making people's lives a misery all the time! |
|

No definitely not |
|

It doesnt matter what age the limit is, teenagers will still get it and drink themselves stupid |
|

Oh god Know .... and besides people can get hold of it even if the age limit was put to 30! |

Changing the legal age makes no difference, if it did you wouldn't have kids drinking and smoking in full view of the public on the streets everywhere you go.
It got said in one of the first answers and she got thumbs downed for saying it for some freakish reason... I totally agree and you can thumbs down me all you like but it wont change the fact that it's 100% accurate, and you all know it.
You see the odd thing is the more you tell people not to do something and don't enforce it with adequate policing the more people do it. Funny thing that, isn't it.
The UK is full of violent, mindless, selfish, arrogant sub-humans who take, take, take and never give anything back and anyone who says different is part of the problem, not the solution.
I am now officially ashamed to be British... It's pathetic. |

Yes, I think it should be illegal except when they are in the company of their parents or uncles&aunts except only for one hour per week, say Tuesday evenings at 7:30-8:30, when they would be allowed to drink in pubs & bars but only one portion each. |
|

maybe 13..
why a person can't drink if he want???! |
|

Hugh Janus
|
not at all, that would be very backward step and very insukting to the majority of drinkers who are sinsible and mature.
the same idiots who abuse alcohol do other things that would warrant ASBOs
perhaps a ban on chav parents would be more effective - neuter them. |
|

Veston Pants

No point ...
They get it under 18 then they would get it under 25.

No, not a hope!! Maybe 21 |

Yes I do, but it won't happen because of the tax this government rakes in from it. |
|

of course not!! Do you realise that if alcohol, the main drug used by students and anyone under 25, was taken away things would just get worse as they would just turn to harder more potent drugs like cocaine etc to fill the gap left by the ban! |

As a recovered alcoholic, as you can imagine I have strong views about under-age drinking, however if you think what happened in America during prohibition years, it was a good idea just totally impractical.
21 would not be a bad age to have as a limit, but as someone else has replied, you can vote at 18 and are considered an adult then, also being ex-service you could also die for your country then, so I think it's impractical and possibly immoral to increase it from 18.
What certainly could be done is to make it a lot more difficult for younger people to buy alcohol, especially from the main supermarkets who still sell it at ridiculously low prices, also wine shops who stay open too late.
The 24 hr drinking experiment has turned out to be a total disaster. |

just ban everthing yeah? why should some sensible people suffer because of the louts that get shItfaced? there are, believe it or not, some very sensible well brought up young people about. why should they pay for the errors of the blody riff raff .lets ban banning things. live and let live works in other countries like greece. lets try it here |

alcohol in the UK should be illegal for everyone ,it's a unhealthy thing. |

No thats your personal choice. |

No.
It was the same when I was young but we didn't go around getting slughtered all the time.
Society needs to take a good look at itself and sort out its problems. It's nothing to do with the age limit or the price of alcohol. |

Drving Liceneces, Alcholol, Tobacco and Voting should be levelled off at 21. |
