Do you think britains uniformed police are a disgrace ?
|
A total of 145 people have come forward to criticise the actions of officers from several forces during two days of demonstrations. This of course is in connection with their brutality and assaults. Do you think that as well as that appalling situation their sitting around eating pies in lay bys and standing around doing nothing half the time makes the uniform forces a downright disgrace to the country ?

No I don't.
Yes I accept certain individual officers did make mistakes on the G20 protests. That said the British police are the most restrained in the world.
I dare say that the vast majority of those complaints are people who have jumped on the 'compo' band wagon. |

No, I reckon they should be allowed to use force more often, especially on out of control riots |

The disgrace are the people carrying on with anarchy and demonstrations.
Before you criticize anyone, try walking a mile in their shoes. |

No I do not ! What I do find disgraceful is that this socialist Government is hell bent on undermining the police service and tying the officers with red tape. They are more concerned with statistics instead of letting the officers use their own initiatives. The Gov. do not back the police officers ,instead they question their every move and are quick to mount enquiries and suspend them on full pay instead of supporting them. This Government's complacency in tackling law and order is why this country is in the state it is and criminals get away with murder.Labour should take a leaf out of the US,Canada and the rest of Europe's book to see how the police service should be run.The police don't just sit around eating pies, they work damned hard in difficult conditions. They are severely under funded, under staffed ,under valued and under paid by this Gov. and what we need is a change of Gov to one who supports the police and gives them back the power to do the jobs for which they were trained, this includes getting rid of Community Support officers and cheap policing and putting more real police on our streets.Little wonder the police morale is at an all time low because they all feel they are fighting a losing battle again this left wing bureaucracy. |

No, they are the saving grace of Great Britain. If only they would stop showing such restraint and use live ammunition. I believe that they would find such a tactic far more useful in preventing these rowdy, violent and costly riots. |

No not at all . if you all did as you are told there would be no problems . |

I think one or two police appear to have overstepped the mark but that does not make the whole force a disgrace. A point remember is that it is possible to make yourself heard without resorting to violence as did some of the crowd
I really do think the tactical support squads and the territorial squads need sorting. It has not bee forgotten that squad of police moved into Concert Square Liverpool and knocked the living daylights out of people who were committing offences.
Like anyone with great power it is sometimes misused but I slightly irritated about people protesting against the hunting ban were also battered for less reason. I did not recall any trendy lefties talking about rights and police brutality then. A little blind spot perhaps. |

Well brutality and assaults? I don't see the problem. Don't you know when a normal citizen does violence against another person its assault. But when a police does it, it's called protection. |

Those benefit scrounging, hooligan scum deserve all they get. I actually feel sorry for the police who are provoked on a daily basis & not being able to do much about it. The law looks after society's vermin. |

No. Let's see, you won't let them have guns and they are wrong if they use a baton on someone...... |

It's easy to criticize police for "sitting around", but when you need them they are there. They can sit around all they want as far as I'm concerned. |

Y'know what, I did 30 years in the police, I was one of the so called Maggies Boot Boys,I helped police the miners strikes, prison riots in Manchester, the Manchester bomb of 1996. I've been involved in the investigation of many murders in the Moss Side area, never persecuted a motorist and am proud of my time served.
I've seen more than my share of police haters who haven't got a clue how the job has to be done, and who couldn't, or wouldn't do the job themselves.
Now retired, I received a very nice lump sum and get paid very well by GMP to stay at home thanks to large pension contributions throughout my career. At the age of 50, my biggest problem each day is deciding what to have for breakfast, safe in the knowledge I've made my contribution to society by being (in the words of one Moss Side resident), a 'sorted copper'.
What contribution have all those making false, or ill-informed complaints made?
I've long since stopped caring what other people think because I'm alright Jack, and know wrong from right.
Sarah M, your mum should have got a job as a school dinner lady, one of those miners wives who fed the police in the makeshift hostels and went home with around £300 a week each in cash, tax free from the 'whip' rounds' we, the police made for them. The miners and their wives kept very quiet about that, didn't they? |

As with any other profession, there are good ones and bad ones. There were Police there who were definitely out of order but the ame goes for some of the protestors. It's like that should be accepted though and all the attention focussed on the Police. |

Luckily being a middle aged, middle class, working professional I dont have much contact with the police, however when I do I find them to be arrogant, totally lacking in any social skills, and bullying in their manner.
People I know who have become policemen and women have all, in my experience, undergone total personality transplants and become self absorbed idiots socially.
Whenever I have been the victim of crime I have found them to vary between little help and no help, but like everyone see a huge amount of money tied up in very fast patrol cars and motorbikes sitting on motorway bridges.
Finally I have several instances of police officers I have known who regularly drink and drive, and use recreational drugs. Im not saying that this is true of all police officers but it is my experience.
Get them out of the squad cars and give them some training in how to speak to people nicely and they may get more support.
The counter to this all however is that if some bone headed "protester" wants to make whatever point they have by smashing up property or my home or place of work, then I would want to police to do whatever they needed to do to stop the protester commiting those crimes.
The right to protest is not the right to destroy and intimidate. |

Yes they are ..
As for itsme my dad was one of those miners you 'policed' and i remember being a child of 8 my dad came home battered and a broken elbow due to a police truncheon (by way of policing don't you know!!) we were broke my mum and dad begged off my nan and grandad to feed us during those times it was hell on earth... he went back everyday on those picket lines to get abused by scum like you..
And you know what he does now? all these years later hes a magistrate and chucks out stupid cases you idiots bring to court because he is a decent proper man with morals shame you never had any then and obviously still dont while deciding what to have for breakfast you self righteous pig, more working class should be magistrates i am so proud of what he did for us as a family if i were your daughter i would hang my head in shame..
Maggies boot boys you didn't know the half of it you was hidden by your uniform with a wage packet safetly in your back pocket. Nothing changes the police are still out of touch with the average mans reality. (lets not forget the OVERTIME you got out of the miners strike) |

Only 145 people?
Yes.
Im not talking about the local pol-pol. But at a whole I am disgusted at those brutal pigs.
I can't understand why they act so immoral, just because they have a uniform?
And the untruthfulness is something worse than a disgrace... |

They are the most expensive waste of time this country has ever had! They are little more than a gang of legalised criminals! |

I am beginning to think so. This brutality is nothing new. I saw an anti hunt protester beaten to the ground by Police quite a few years ago and all he was doing was carrying a banner and then you can think back to the miner's strike and what happened there when people were only fighting for the right to work. |

Yeah most of them are on such a power trip it drives me crazy, A copper came over to me last thursday night cos me and my bloke were having a disagreement. He was obviously bored but he was sooooo rude to me- just because he could be,
The other copper with him actually looked embarased!! |

The British police have been nothing but 'thugs for hire' for 40 years. the only reason you are seeing evidence is the use of mobile phones to film their actions. It has always been the same.
I remember being photographed by them when i attended perfectly legitimate trade union meetings in the eighties. I have seen them beat peaceful protesters to the ground in order to protect the racists of the National Front.
A disgrace doesn't come close to describing them. |
