These people are just very rude. They want live in Britain because it suits them but they don't want to integrate into British society, they want to live as they would in a muslim country. If we go to muslim countries, we must follow their customs. This is fair enough! So on the same footing, I think these walking pillar boxes should follow our traditions whilst here and if they don't like it, they should go and live where they can walk round dressed like the prehistoric, downtrodden fools they really are.
These are my veiws and I am entitled to them, it was not so long ago that my relations put their lives on the line to give me this right. I will not have religious idiots degrading my life or my lifestyle and I say again - if you don't like it, go and live elsewhere, where you will not cause offence to my countrymen and I. Should any substance need to be added to these words, have a look at the Ceremony of Rememberence this comming Sunday and count how many of these slugs you see. I doubt if you will see any at all. They only want to be British when there is something in it for them. To appear at this ceremony would be to putting something back. |

not in public. they can where what they want, however, in schools, airports, supermarkets and other places where its a security risk just as i have to take my hood down on my hoodie when i walk into these places. because otherwise im starting to think that our country likes everyone better than us english folk, now please dont be offended by this because i embrace all cultures but seriously it cant be one rule for them one rule for us its not bloody fair. |

i think the headscarf it fine but they shouldnt cover their faces. what about burgurlars who wear ski masks to cover their faces! they only do it when comitting a crime and they dont want people to recognise them, the whole covering the face thing makes me feel like they have something to hide. |

i agree. if people come here, they should follow our rules and culture or stay where they are. wonder wot would happen if i wore a bikini in their country???? hmmmmm |

I believe that they should remove their veil in this country yes, seeing as a dear friend of my aunt got executed for NOT wearing a veil in Kuwait only a few years ago. They want to live here?? They dress the way WE do |

If they want a society where women where the full veil is worn then they should go and live in a Muslim country.
I have no problem with anyone dressing modestly as is recommended in the Muslim teachings and wearing the headscarf but when in a job where communication is vital they
should be made to remove them. There was a case in the paper
today of a Muslim laywer wearing the full veil who could not be
hear by the judge in court, she was asked to remove it and
refused.
The reason that this issue does not often come up in many
strict Muslim societies is because women are not allowed to
do those sort of jobs in the first place which is presumably
one of the reasons they have come to this country so that they
can be afforded more opportunities. In return shouldn't they
respect our society and remove the veil in situations where it
is quite obviously necessary. If it makes them uncomfortable
then they shouldn't go into these professions in the first place.
I'm not comfortable being naked in front of a roomfull of men,
I wouldn't take a job as a stripper!
The full veil does make some people uncomfortable and can
be seen as a mark of segregation and I think there should be
more debate on why more young people are choosing to
wear it when their mothers before them did not choose to
and many religious leaders say it is uneccessary. |

we have had a number of discussions about this on yahoo answers and most of us have the general opinion that they should. The main laws were the veils should be removed are:
driving (lets face it they must have poor peripheral vision with those rags across their faces)
face to face encounters ie banks or accross a reception
if they are involved with healthcare ( i was once told by an elderly lady that her chirpodist could not visiot so a locum one was sent - she was asian and wore a veil and the lady would not let her into the house unless she removed the veil) |

Their were two Muslim women in a car both wearing full veil's.
the driver of the car could not see were see was going wearing hear veil and nearly run into my family and my self.
These women should not have been wearing their veils whilst in the car.
These Muslim women did not even stop to see if we were OK and continued driving. they definitely should be band. as for these muslin women who nearly killed my family. i Hope you die before you kill some Innocent soul. |

Yes. I think its about time Britain took some serious step. It not about embracing others no more its about living and respecting the country you live in embracing the culture you have chose to live in the British Culture..
Send you wife or girlfriend over to Saudi or most other middle east countries and see how long she can walk around in a short skirt and low cut blouse showing a bit to much flesh they wont except it so why should we except there way of dress. |
|

CW
|
The simple answer is YES!
Look at it this way if you went to the middle east on holiday you would be expected to cover your head and face (if you are female and dependant on the strictness of the country you are visiting). It is a little word called RESPECT for that country. Therefore why should Muslim women wear the veil in this country? France can ban veils in schools etc. so whats different in this country?
I am NOT racist but why the hypocrisy? |

Yes...If we lived in their country we would have to adapt to their ways! So the same should be for them living here......If they aren't prepared to integrate and live the western way why the hell are they here??? Surely it can't be for the free housing, freedom of speech and as much of our hard earned money the government wants to throw at them!...that would just be stupid wouldn't it? |
|

i don't think they should be forced to take them off ...but should not be forced to wear them by members of there own community..i know of quite a few Muslims who take veils off when away from home ....the people who force the women to wear the veils should be punished |
|

LadyMoonlight!!
 |
I hate those veils. They look so dodgy and untrustworthy wearing them. In western culture we value being able to communicate face to face, it represents honesty.
But if we "forced" people to take them off by law you'd just end up with more of backlash from the fanatics.
We just have to make our own personal stand. I would refuse to be treated by a veiled doctor, or have my child taught by a veiled teacher or plead my case to a veiled judge. |

as proof of the oklahoma city bombing, terrorists can be anyone and he(McVeigh) was wearing regular clothes. no we should not make them take their veil off. just because people live in New York should we all speak with a new york accent? just because they live in britain does not mean that they are no longer muslim. If you move to america, would you not still be british? should you abandon your british customs? would it be fair for us to ask that of you? |
|

Jack
 |
I don't care if they wear them or not. Who cares? Its up to them.
But if they are required to remove it for Police, Security or CCTV then they must do so. Also, there should be a complete ban in the work place. Any work place. |

Recently, a lawyer insisted on wearing one in court. They are now doing it as a deliberate provocative act. |

Do British people always obey British laws?
I think you are doing a bit of scaremongering here. |

no i don't think thy should have to take them off in public unless asked to do so by the police but i do think that if thy want to do a public service job IE)teaching nursing or even driving a bus thy should not were there face cover also things like using a bus that needs a picture pass thy need to show there face to the bus driver or ticket inspector as that is how we identified that the right person is using a pass that is for them if thy want to live in England that,s OK but thy have to follow our rules |

the muslim they should stop this because you never know if it is a woman or man or a boy or a girl they mite have a gun or a knive or a bomb on them and mite bomb you. and thats why you should not a have a friend who is muslim and you never know they mite just come to your house kill you and your family if you don't know how to take care of yourself. i think they should go back to their country if they want to hide their bloody faces not in Australia because we all hate them and im not stupied that we do bloody hate them. if not they should of f**k of from Australia |
