Do you think that the police here (UK) are completely useless?

yep! technically i'm still waiting for them to answer a 999 call i made in october 2006
i ended up having to resolve it myself by putting myself in danger (was an attack)
thankyou police.

I don't think the police are useless. It's the bureaucrats who govern the police that are useless. Tons of paper work and still believing we can go back to the times when a bobby could give a kid a clip round the ear. We need hard core police who just have to look at you and you know they mean business.

I actually think there very competent, more so then other countries its just the stupid policies, procedures and state of are law system that's stopping them from doing an effective job.

I do to an extent but on the other hand I think the laws of this country don't help them and if we brought in tougher and non nonsense laws it would make for a much better and safer country :-)

I agree with the first answer.

For example, they've gotten weaker in case an arrest gets interpreted as unwanted assault.

no not entirely, just a bit. My one worry would be that all the UK police will soon be armed. that would increase gun crime. They do the best they can with what the government gives them. I'd rather have to wait for a copper to come for a while than deal with ones that get here quick and shoot the place up.

In the UK, there's too much crime. I personally do not live in the UK, but I've travelled back and forth several times, and I've seen police breaking laws as well.

That's quite useless, in my opinion.

Some of them are and I agree. There doesnt seem to be any consideration Tact or Common sense used when dealing with individual cases anymore.. On one hand you have the rookie copper out for Brownie points and the copper thats been in the job a few years and thinks hes gods gift to the job....However its not the Police who make the Laws, they only use them...The only judgement I have of that is they sometimes go overboard and seem to think that although someone has committed an offence they should be dealt with. What happened to a good old fashioned Police Computor check (PNC) a record in an officers notebook and a ticking off. No they seem nowadays they just want to arrest everything walking....PROVIDING they have backup. The Police women are the worst....off goes there tongues when they know they have enough male coppers to back them up. I`ve worked with some of them. You have good ones and bad ones as you do in any walk of life. Its all down to there being a COMPLETE UTTER LACK OF DIRECTION by SENIOR RANKING OFFICERS...thats it in a nutshell. Too younger Sergeants and Inspectors dont help.!!

yes they gave me a warning for having a bb gun next to the park. when they could be giving tickets to the people smoking weed in the park.
whats worse playing with a bb gun or smoking weed??
they didnt do anything to the people in the park and they were like 13
oh and one of my friends dads said that his brother didnt want to be a policeman because the other policemen were hitting and beating up a mentally disabled person behind a building because the disabled man was shop lifting.
