Do you think the police in youre area do there best?

for me no they dont its still a daily accurance that you hear of a stabbing or and assault

The only time I see the police these days is when I walk past a takeaway.

I've called them twice in the past three years and both times the only thing they have done is given me a reference number, taken a statement and said they would be in touch... Then never got back to me on either occasion.

100% Useless.

_____

And for those of you who feel the need to give me a thumbs down perhaps you should try to remember that I am basing my opinion on personal experience with the police and how often I see them walking the beat.

Therefore I maintain they are 100% useless and based on my experience I am 100% correct, you cannot tell me I am wrong because you cannot change the past.

_____

And here's one from a copper which makes me laugh :

" People do not call when they see something going down and they are to busy or afraid to give a statement or testify. "

Well I did call, twice... The police didn't care.

Looks like the "People are apathetic" line is getting a bit old because I'm not apathetic, I want to get something done and the police showed me how pathetic they were by not giving a fig.

Twice called, twice failed.

Police success rate with my calls to date : 0%

Oh... Almost forgot...

You DID almost kill my pregnant wife by cutting in front of our car chasing after some kids in a chav mobile the other day without your lights and siren on so you're not totally useless I suppose.

You guys came within two feet of the front of our car crossing our path while we were doing 30mph with no indication you were pursuing the car...

And you wonder why people hate you ?

The Police have some lazy employees and some hard working employees. They are just the same as any other organisation, it's not down to any one organisation, its down to the fact that some human beings work harder than others and every company has their share of different personalities working for them. That's life.

Hey there
It really depends on where you live, the size of the department, and the budget. In my town, we have 4 officers (max) on duty at all times. The biggest crime is loud music or traffic violations with the occasional breaking and entering. I live in one of those boring, cookie cutter suburbs. I have to say, the officers, for the most part try hard to keep the place in check, and they seem to do a good job. The average response time for an officer is less than four minutes, and everyone knows everyone. But, there are a few that are pretty lazy.

You have to remember too, that an officer can't go to a crime if s/he doesn't know about it. People need to report them.

Next time I see a uniformed officer in my area I'll ask them but I haven't seen one for months. Only ever see police cars driving through at high speed.

El Scott
Most of them do. We are all individuals and all have different work ethics.

As for your comment about the daily assaults and stabbings, there is no way on earth anyone can stop someone from breaking the law all the time. Be realistic.

I'm from East Los Angeles Calif.
We had a bad rap years ago. Now because of a more intimate relationship with our station East Los Angeles is pretty safe . I feel safer here than anywhere else. The cops around here make it their business to know who the troublemakers are.

Ponder this do the citizens do enough, it is not the police that do the crime it is the criminals.

We are under staffed and underfunded. The public is apathetic and blame all the evil that is done on the police.

The police do not stab, rob, murder and sell drugs (meaning the 99% of the honest good cops).

People do not call when they see something going down and they are to busy or afraid to give a statement or testify.

Johny A stabs Ricky B Freddy C sees it. He gives the police Johny's name but will not give a witness statement or testify. So the police now have a suspect but no witness or evidence. Unless forensics can give us the evidence we need or unless Johny A confesses there is no case.

People phone the police because their 12 year kid is acting out or neighbours dog is crapping on their lawn and so on and so on. So while we are tied up answering the nuisance calls criminals are running around doing their thing.

Form a neighbour hood watch get to know your neighbours keep and eye open and listen up.

I am sorry to say that the local Beat Manager is a lazy so and so, but Officers from other Police Stations are very good, polite and courteous and very helpful. I often wonder why we have been lumbered with such a numptie. This is Devon by the way.

Here in folkestone, they do yes. They work very hard and we always see them on the beat daily. Sadly, if you're a law abiding citizen and you need help over something, i don't abuse, attack or something. They're not interested as such people are expected to have 'proof' before they'll act. They seem to only be there for the criminals that none of us really want in our society anyway. Guess that just reflects the times we live in.

They try to do their best but at the end of the day it`s the council that make their job hard. I lived in my area for 30 years never no problems no police to be seen. Then the council moved drug Barron's in the area and they knew them. Now police all over the place.
The councils don't like people buying houses.
All but a few are sold. Then the council move sh-- in. they know what they are doing.

No they are useless. They have appeared on Street Wars on TV and have shown on there just how bad they are. And they are far too trigger happy.
