Do you think there should be different forms of capital punishment for certain crimes?

For crimes like this, where an adult viciously beats, tortures and murders small childre (and children, in general), do you think there should be a different form of death penalty? Perhaps a torture provision (if it were up to you)?

Please, if you do not support the death penalty, this probably isn't the question for you. The last thing I want is someone to come and rationalize why this monster shouldn't be put down for what he did to this helpless child.

I also ask that you check out the myspace dedication page for Michael. It not only has his story, but the page has links to pages of other children killed/abused by adults, as well as video about child abuse.

While it's tough to watch, I think it's something everyone should see.

I would probably be labeled as a brute because I can agree with the concept of reflective capital punishment as well as DIRECT capital punishment.

I feel that if a person tortures someone, they should experience such pain but not be killed right away, allow them to suffer. Each is a case by case basis but I would also only agree with this if there was proof beyond a reasonable doubt that the actor committed the crime without a shred of doubt.

I also feel as if the current capital punishment system is a joke because it is extremely expensive to the country, state, and taxpayers. If someone is convicted of a capital crime that decrees capital punishment, take them right then and there to the facility and do it. No appeals process, no time for them to write books, just do it. Again this is a touch-and-go idea since I would only advocate such a a concept if the person is obviously guilty without even a slight chance of innocence.

I don't care what method of capital punishment we use. But there should be automatic death penalty for murderers, rapists, and repeat offenders.

We are too "civilized" to effectively combat crime. That is why our citizens are being continually preyed upon by the dregs of society.

It would be wonderful if it were, "Let the punishment fit the crime." Child abuse/murders are certainly on the uprise. You can't rationalize why anyone would even want to do anything so horrific to an innocent child. I honestly feel that the way crime is on the uprise, we seriously need to change our basic laws. These people seem to have no feelings for what they do and I have no sympathy for their punishment. We should go back to the way jail USED to be and see how many care then before they commit a crime. They don't care because our prisons are too easy.

I think that if we are to have capital punishment, it should occur in broad daylight in the public square, with television broadcasts.

I think capital punishment should always be quick and as "civilized" as possible. Otherwise, we are coming down to the demon's level.
