Do you think this punishment is fair?

Motorists here the UK who drive mini-motos recklessly or cause problems in their community were warned by the government this week that they could be given a driving ban or even have their vehicles crushed."
I definately think it's fair because they are a menace.. Additional Details ok maybe crushing of the vehicles is severe..

well....if you are caught by customs and excise using red diesel in your vehicle they can fine you and confiscate said vehicle.
that's the punishment for breaking the law.
sods. lol
so i suppose using that argument, if you're not going to use your mini-moto responsibly and are a menace then i guess the government would have the right to confiscate it. but only in extreme cases, surely?
but crushing it would be too severe, i think. maybe they could auction it off and give the money to charity? |

If this was tested there would be a problem... If I commit a motoring offence, my car isnt taken and crushed whether I have insurance and road tax or not. Private property should remain so in my opinion unless obtained by unlawful means. Most of the users of minis are under the age of 17 and I disagree with driving bans being enforced, which will effect their insurance when they reach 18. However as these minis are a menace and highly dangerous on public roads and paths, I believe that they should be banned except in designated areas and anyone breaking this law should be treated as if committing a motoring offence under the present guidelines. If the individual is under the age of 13, I would hold the parents responsible and fine them accordingly |

The crushing sounds a bit severe, I mean, they should be allowed to own what they want, right? They don't have to be allowed to opperate it, but own it at least.
Other than that, I think it's fair. |

it depends on the type of road they are driving and whether or not they are talking on a cell phone . i think thid is one of the worst ways to have a lot of accidents.and people who choose to use them should be more aware of how bad this situation is getting. i know that some cities and states in the us have banned the use of cell phones while driving, but so far there hasnt been too much of a protest, however i do think that if bad driving is causing a lot of danger to innocent people then no law is or can be too harsh. |

Crushing is dumb, the government could confiscate them and resell them so they didn't have to take as much tax money for social programs. |

I think crushing them is a little extreme. |

I think the taking away and some jail time is fair but they should not wreck a car that the person payed for. For it is the persons fault not the innocent car. |

its very fair, if i rode a motorcycle up and down with no insurance they would crush that!
taken them too long to do it in my opinion |

I think its easy to pontificate about the rights and wrongs of whether someone should receive a ban even if they are under age to even have a licence.
Ultimately, some of the owners (not all) terrorise neighbourhoods, making residents lives a complete misery, and if confronted, do it all the more, and adults are sometimes the perpetrators of these crimes (though to use the word adult is somewhat a misnomer as it would suggest a degree of maturity which is lacking!)
Crushing the offending mini-motos, is one way of quietening a neighbourhood, crushing the rider would be far better!
As for the issue of insuring a legal road vehicle...do you honestly think that the majority of these people pay insurance, have MOT's etc?? |
