Do you think when the police clock in should they be breathalised.?

I was going to make a complaint about the noise and drunkenness when i saw a cops night out but live and let live but thinking about some of them must be at work in the morning

to citicop i hope this is not the way you test your officers. if it is you must agree to the test.

So coppers are not allowed to go out and enjoy themselves?

What makes u think they could have been at work the next day?

And we are breath and drug tested at work at random intervals and for us the legal alcohol limit is 13 not 34 that the rest of the UK gets.

I don't need a breathalyzer to tell when someone is drunk, and neither does my boss.

I think it would be discriminatory to only breathalyse the police when they start work. If them, then why not everybody?

MissF
If that were to seriously happen, we'd all have to do it. It would be ridiculous

they are subjected to random drug and alcohol tests

EddyJ
Sure, why not. Everyone should be tested before clocking in for work. Doctors, pilots, people in construction, the young person that asks paper or plastic when sacking your groceries. Add your occupation to the list too. Better safe than sorry right?

topmajorj
Completely unnesacery, you dont just need a brethalyser to tell if someone is drunk, the brethalyser just claryfys it.

By your logic everyone should be breath tested who drive for a living. It seems you have a problem with off duty officers letting their hair down. When I was in the police section night outs were usually arranged for rest days so that how you can assume officers would be on early shift and in particular driving.

mafiaboss_nz
I would suggest that if a group of police when out on a night out it is because they are all on the same shift/team and not at work the next day...most would not want to come in hung over and everyone would know about it if they did, all work night outs i have being invited too were on there rest days IE they were not due in work for a few days after

It's pretty hard to disguise or hide the odor of alcohol. During morning briefings anyone having alcohol on their breath will be detected. This would result in an immediate action being taken.

Yes I do. There is a Policewoman who drinks in the village pub every night, she then drives her car home and is well over the limit. I can't see that it has worn off by the next morning with what she consumes.

ribbans1980
YES , they should. They take great pleasure breathalising people on their way to work in the mornings, so why should they be exempt from the law

Happy Murcia
Yes I think it`s a good idea, they are not above the law. One wrong move from them could ruin someones life...
