Do you understand this (lol)?

Last night, the History Channel showed an episode of "Gangland" in which young men were shown walking around in front of a Housing Project randomly and repeatedly firing their guns into the air. The episode talked about the multiple children who were *killed* in the Housing Project by gunfire from gang members intended for other gang members.

As I watched this, I was dumbfounded by this question (lol:) How is it that America's policing authorities can use tactics like domestic spying and secret detentions ( http://hrw.org/english/docs/2003/06/17/usdom6155.htm ) on Arabs and Muslims in America who have committed NO viloation of American law, hurting these people, but they cannot use tactics like domestic spying and secret detentions to hurt the American criminal element (lol?)

Can anybody answer this question (lol?) Thank you very much to all who answer.

If you say the damage was not on the scale of 9-11, I say that 19 people like 9-11 (only 17 more than the 2, Nichols & McVeigh) carrying out 19 different attacks could have caused the same or a worse scale of damage than 9-11. WHY AREN'T ALL AMERICANS PERSECUTED BECAUSE OF MCVEIGH AND NICHOLS?

If you're implying that the "lol" meant the person was "laughing out loud"...I'd most likely suggest that people speak and convey thoughts differently than others.

Some are not as educated as others...some just don't understand the proper means of communicating to others...some just have unique methods of expressing themselves.

Secret detentions are generally carried out by the Executive branch or sometimes the military.

If Bush declares you and enemy combatatant you are toast.

Local American Police forces are bound by the law.

I seen that and it was very scary.The police do use spying tactics as in undercover police.what they don't use is secret detentions and torture,and in cases like what was on that program they really should

Arabs are thee most likely by far to be terrorists against americans, they are not being targeted, it's just common sense, and fathers leaving their sons behind in the ghetto is why there are spoiled brat gangsters out there firing their guns. More fathers at home keeping their sons in line, and enforcing the fear in their children (fear of father is healthy if used correctly) will shrink the gangs to nothing, adress the problem where it starts.

This was happening in Chicago. Welcome to big government welfare housing. This is what our taxes go for in America. Your question should have been how can the local police who had to know about this media circus yet not step in and arrest those who were obviously breaking many laws with firearms and very likely were felons that were not allowed to possess guns. Why and how could this have happened? Your answer could very well be the reason we have crime and killing here in the USA.

The USA get's a bit carried away making other countries abide by their laws, and expects their own gunslinging population to be civilised and only shoot baddies. Saying that they do manage to kill a bad guy occasionally, although I'm sure it's when they were aiming for the british and hit an "enemy" by mistake.

The police and the FBI can, and have been, using these tactics for years.
