A cop can "ask" for anything he wants. The real question here is are you required to provide you ID with out being given a reason? In some cases yes, you are required to show ID. It will make things a lot easier if you just provide it when the cop asks. That way you can both get on with your day quickly and with the least amount of fuss. |

Well the first thing I would have to ask myself is:
Why would a Cop have to stop me and ask for my ID...
You see in 66 years of wild living the only time a
Cop asked me for my ID was when I was doing
something I shouldn't doing...
Speeding...Falling off of Bar Stools etc...
Sometimes we get mistaken for someone else...
and it is a quick way to sort it out...
One time they though I was Robert Redford...
Nah thats not right...I thought I was Robert Redford...
A Cop tells me to stop...I Stop...
Wants to see my ID...I Show him my ID...
There is Two things I know I can't do...
Out Run a Two Way Radio or a 357 Bullet.
Have learned that Cops just don't stop you for No Reason...
They have a lot more important things to do...
So there has to be a reason... |

One thing you should realize is that you don't own your drivers license, The State that issues it does. Since we work for the State, that means we actually own your drivers license, so letting us look at it once in awhile should'nt be a problem for you. Or SHOULD it? |
