I think you need to ask your question more clearly as it is not immediately obvious what you are asking.
If you mean does he have to introduce himself or tell you his name when he walks up to the car, then no, he is not required to do so. His name is on his name tag and the ticket if he gave you one. If he is asked his name he is required to tell you however. |

The correct question is what are the consequences if a cop does not identify himself. If some random person demands that you stop and submit to a pat down, and you refuse, there is no crime. If the same order comes from a person who is a cop and who identifies himself as a cop, then refusal may be a seperate crime. If you are asking if you can avoid conviction if you submit to a search by someone who fails to identify himself as a cop, the answer is no. |

Yes. They must identify themselves at all times. And if they refuse to do so and give you a ticket, they're screwed since they just wrote their name on the ticket. Report them to their watch commander. |
