Does anyone know how to dismiss a speeding ticket?

Only a court can dismiss a speeding violation.

You can dispute the ticket of you feel it was not warranted. You forfeit your opportunity to attend school and to keep it off your record if it sticks. Sometimes for your time and effort the court will lower the fine if you lose. If you are certain you would win because it is very obvious that it was unwarranted and you can prove it then go to court.

Otherwise take the punishment and pay for your mistake.

If you are eligible, you can go to school online now so you don't have to attend a class in person if you want it to stay off your driving record.

you'll have to take a hearing. If you are guilty, ask the officer for some leniency. He may drop the citation or at least lower the fine. Always be respectful as this helps immensely.

Your best bet is to contact the courts and ask them these questions. They are the ones who will process your ticket and will know all the laws and regulation. You should also ask the courts if you are allowed to take a driving school class. This will prevent your insurance from going up and points from being placed on your license. Just make sure you get the courts permission before doing so. If you donâ€™t the courts will reject your driving school certificate. Good luck!

Talk with the prosecuting attorney because they are the only person that can "dismiss" a ticket before going to court. Once in court, your fate is in either the hands of the judge (bench trail) or a jury. If you feel that you can beat the ticket, i.e. the officer stopped the wrong car, I suggest doing an open records request to see the officer's patrol car video (if there is one). There are a lot of digital video systems now that record a pre-set time prior to the activation of the patrol cars lights (which usually turns the camera system on). If you plan on fighting the ticket, seeing the video can save you some embarassment (like saying you didn't do it, and then having a video shown in court that shows you committing the violation)

depending on where u live, there are certian guidleines they must follow.

most police officers reduce simple speeding tickets to non moving violations. there is a fine, but hey we usually knew we were breaking the law and its easier to pay a small fine then 300 to a lawyer.

You can't just dismiss a ticket. You'll need to plead not guilty, set a court date and then go to court and tell the Judge why you don't think you should have received it. The officer will be there as well, telling the Judge why you should have.

Find out from your courts what the process is. Usually there is a fine and a point on your record. If it's your first, you may be able to go to traffic court, although in most states you still have to pay the fine, but you won't get the ding on your driving record.

If you have traffic court instead of regular civil court, the DA may dismiss the speeding ticket if you haven't had one in more than a year and if you weren't speeding more than 10 miles above the posted speed limit. You may still have to pay court costs though.
