Someone very close to me was charged with this offense and I was wondering what type of sentence they might give him. I dont know if it matters to the judge, but he does have a very young child, so maybe that would make probation seem like a better option?

You don't get to commit felonies and they cry "but I have a kid" when it comes to sentencing. You're just as much a felon as the adult male with no family at all is.
If you have no record, you'll most likely get probation and a fine. But if you've got some priors, which I'm betting you do, jail time is a good possibility. |

Depending on how much he stole and who he stole from...probation to a few years.
Your friend is a thief. You may want to find a new one. |

5-15 depending on who and the amount he embezzled.
The Child does not even enter into the picture...
He should have thought of that before
committing the Crime...so why should the
Courts take it into consideration...
He is a Criminal that hurt people...

That is really gonna be hard for anyone to answer because the sentence will depend on so many different factors. (criminal history, etc) |

It depends on many factors.
The most important being, is this his first offense, how much money was involved, and is the case state or federal.
u can usually find the information you are looking for on your state web site or google search federal sentencing guidelines.
good luck, Judges do not care about how many children you have the basis is whether or not they believe you are a threat to society or they really need to teach you a lesson. |
