Yes especially when half of them don't need a blue badge in the first place, like a certain neighbour of mine quite capable of working on the sly but when he goes out blue badge and stick, it makes my blood boil and gives genuine people a bad name. He has been reported by various neighbours before anybody says report him, nothing done. |

Yes, absolutely but what makes me even madder is that there is never anyone around to deal with them. |

More that people just park there without the proper tags.
My MIL has severe asthma and had the blue tag, I suggested that she use a cane, so she wouldn't get rashed on for her non-obvious disability |

Yes. I am disabled and can barely walk and when I see someone park in a handicap spot then run to the store I get really angry. I bought a cell phone so that whenever I see it happening I call the local police and report it. The blue tag is issued to a disabled person not to a car. And when I can't go to a store because some healthy person is too lazy to walk it really p---es me off. |

Yes, we cant park there so why should someone who is obviously not disabled be able to park there when the person who has the disability is not with them? |

Many times, and it is a shame. They do it around here every time it snows or is icy, when the disabled need those spaces desperately. I ALWAYS notify the store manager, and then dial 911 on my cell. They have fines in my state for pigs like that. |

It certainly does
I have one for when I transport my DAD but never use it if I am on my own
If they want the disabled persons space they can have his/her disablement also
The usual culprits are :
4 X 4 drivers
New sports car owners
30 year old career women |

Yeah, it annoys me but what can you do? i have a blue badge because i cant walk very far, and i have to use walking sticks to go anywhere.. But some people have disabilities that you can't see at all and look perfectly "normal" so I'm sorry but when you see someone who looks normal using a blue badge please be open to the fact that the person may not "at it" and they could be just as disabled as i am without the obvious sticks...
P.s. they could also have been the disabled persons driver (also legal as long as the disabled badge holder is in the car) |

I have not seen anyone with a disabled blue badge abuse their rights to park in the disabled parking. I have seen people who do not have a disabled blue badge, not even a disabled license plate abuse the disabled parking lot. It's not as bad as it use to be. People are finally catching on, showing more consideration for the disabled. |

well, you have to be careful about characterizing individuals, some people get them but they may not have a noticeable disability. my brother shattered his knee and had one for awhile (he may still have it but he doesnt use it) even though he appears to be walking pretty much ok because he was supposed to minimize use for the first few months and i think it still gets sore if he uses it a lot. he was like 17 or 18 at the time and only had a slight limp and looks normal now so he probably looks like an abuser who stole a pass from his grandparents. but yeah im sure many people that appear to be abusing it probably are. and i know im being hypocritical about judging people but the fat 19 year old moms in walmart on the little scooters annoy me a lot more. |

What makes me more upset at this point in my life is the fact that my husband has handicapped plates and parks in the handicapped zone. On his good days, he does not appear handicapped and thus we are open up to public yelling and harassment. On his bad days, he is lucky to be able to get out of the car, but no one ever thinks that maybe a handicapped person has good days and bad. I understand that people abuse the handicapped tags given out....but why does everyone think that EVERYONE is scamming the public by using the handicapped parking. |

Yes and it also annoys me to see the condition of some people that have legitimate passes. Here in SC, it seems being over weight qualifies for handicap parking, or even driving a car that contains a pass, regardless of whether the handicapped person is in the vehicle.
I've found there are times when store managers and business reps, that when asked, will call the police who will respond and ticket the offender. But there are also business reps that are too busy, apathetic or just decline to contact the police. Oftentimes, people neglect to display their legitmate parking permits, so I suppose this may also be why business folk and cell phone users won't call the police. And, I suppose many think the culprit will be gone before the police arrive anyway.
Anyway, as a handicapped person, I just accept the inevitable and press on. |

yes terribly. it's jsut people being really rude and lazy - dear help them if they ever have to use a disabled parking space |

yes, but no one gets in trouble for it unless you are a student parking at your school. i also think that obesity should not be a way to get one. i think that there should be special spots in the back of the parking lot so they can jog themselves into the supermarket and that drive-throughs should only be used by the disabled and people with small children in the car. i hate how much effort people put into being LAZY. |

to a point it does...but I also see h-cap people park as close to the door as possible. I worked at a restaurant where the h-cap spots were a pretty fair ways away from the door because the wheelchair ramp was not located directly infromt of the entrance.......did the h-caps park in the designated spots, no.....they would park as cose to the door as they could and then struggle to get their wheelchairs up onto the sidewalk. They could have easily parked 30 feet away and had access to the ramp that was installed, The customers (for the most part) knew of the ramps location, but wanted to park in front.
I do feel that parking privilages are getting a bit out of control, for now there are "expectant moms" and "senior citizens" parking at the winn-dixie.....what will be next..the "I'm running 5 minutes late parking"? |

JoeP, don't you think there may be disabled spaces outside buildings because..............disabled people can't walk as far as you? |

No, it doesn't bother me at all. The reason for this is: the person driving may be the driver for the disabled person. That car would be allowed to park in the blue zone, as it was transporting a disabled person. Some disabilities are impossible to 'see'. Some disabled people have really great days and then, have some really horrible days.....making it impossible to walk on the horrible days, and seem just fine (regarding walking) on the good days. |

Yeah, so much so I usually call it to my kids attention if they are parking while we pass by.
I'll point to the person parking and say to my kids "see that person? As nice as they look, they are what we call a 'criminal' because they are stealing a parking spot from someone who really needs it. I hope you never are so mean-hearted as to take something from a person who is in a wheelchair".
I had one person give me the finger as they marched into the store ... so I went to the security office at the store and reported them. Turns out the security guy was a LEO and called a buddy to come and give 'em a ticket and take their sticker ... hauled their car off too lol.
We here in Texas are changing the laws so that people must bring in new authorizations from their doctor every year to get another sticker. Keeps the idiots to a minimum I guess. |

Yeah, it's pretty rampant in my neighborhood. There are blocks with 5 and 6 handicap parking spots... that's too high a ratio to be legit on so many different streets in one neighborhood! |

Yes it annoys me, what a lot of people seem to also not consider is that the disabled spaces are also wider than a normal space. This is necessary as it is impossible to get in and out of your wheelchair when a car is parked close to the car door.
What might be saving an non disabled person walking a few extra yards is denying someone with a disability of getting out their car to use the shops all together |

What really gets me is ... the number of handicapped spaces are ridiculous! there are lots of people that do not have a handicapped sticker that really can't walk forever to get into a store! In my town EVERY space close to the door is handicapp! |

Yeah, totally. I had a friend who sprained his ankle in highschool. The doctor gave him a script. or whatever for a parking permit b/c he was on crutches. However, the shortest amount of time the give those things out for, in Texas at least, is 6 months. Those were 6 happy months of parking close to everything, let me tell you. |

Yes it does annoy me. It is like they care nothing for rules of law.
Even if I was tempted to park in a disabled space, I would not.
I am a little superstitious and I don't want to ever really need a disabled space.
Does irritate me a little that more and more parking spaces are being set aside for the disabled. I think it is too easy to get a handicap sticker from a doctor. Almost anyone can get one. |

Verily I say to thee, thou shalt NOT abuse thy Disabled privilege or hellfire and brimstone shall surely descend to plague all of thy family for generations... etc etc etc
Yeah, it's an offense, about like spitting on the sidewalk. So freaking what? I am disabled, and there are usually plenty of spaces available to me. I can probably find a time, maybe once a year, in some location somewhere, that all the spaces are taken up by people who abuse another family member's placard. Guess what, usually one of those spaces opens up in a few minutes.
Geez, I thought we got rid of all those ranting evangelists from church and NOW we've got replacement ranting about miniscule social inequities. And no shortage of self-appointed Parking Lot Sheriffs. |

I DO NOT BEGRUDGE ANYONE IF THEY ARE DISABLED TO HAVE ACCESS TO THE BLUE PARKING ZONES.
WHAT I QUESTION IF YOU COUNT ALL THE BLUE ZONES IN A MARKET PLACE THERE ARE NOT THAT MANY PEOPLE WHO ARE HANDICAPPED TO FILL ALL THE SLOTS AT ONCE?
ALSO THE SLOTS ARE FOR THOSE WHO ARE HANDICAPPED AND CAN STILL GET AROUND NOT A HUSBAND OR WIFE WHO USES THE CAR TO ACCESS HANDICAPPED PARKING? |

It annoys the living daylights out of me when people who don't appear to be handicapped do that.
You didn't specify whether or not they actually had a permit to do so.
I am sometimes fearful, however, that someone who does have a permit, but looks physically normal may have some things wrong with them that aren't readily evident, such as breathing disorders, or serious troubles with their legs or knees, and might be wrongly scorned.
I rest with knowledge that if they don't deserve to do that, they must have some guilt inside. |

Ive been registered disabled all my life and I findit upsets me to see that ignorant people don't gave a fuck if they park in a disabled space. Blue badge spaces aren't their to be taken by a non disabled person they are their to help people with a disability. I check to see if they have a badge. I am going to write down the number plate of the car without a badge and report it. |
