Does she have to stay in this harmful environment?

Does she have to stay in this harmful environment?

One of my close friends had to move out of her mothers home because her mom lost her job.

She now lives in a home with 2 alcoholics/druggies(pot).

Her necessities are being neglected, she can't get the medical attention that she NEEDS, and besides that they are actually offering alcolhol and weed.

They also have a family friend who is 40 that is coming on to her. She is 17.

Due to all the drama, she cant focus on school and has decided she needs to get her GED this summer so she can make progress on getting out.

Is there anyway I can help her out? I have enough money that she could stay with me for about 4 months. She has friends she can stay with about 2 weeks at a time.

I would contact your local Children and Family Services offices If you cannot get a number for them, then call the local police and get it. At 17 she is still a minor, so I would guess they would do an investigation. She should also report the 40 year old perv for coming on to her. He can go to jail for that. If all you say is true, get her help. But do it legally, do not tell her to run away. That would just get her in trouble.

its good that you are concerned! theres not a lot of people out there like you anymore!! i would call your local department of child services, and ask them what they think you should do. also, if the conditions are really that bad, maybe you should consider her staying with you for awhile. this is a very crucial time in her life, and she needs proper guidance. maybe you could have her stay with you and in the meantime contact local agencies to try to get her some help. good luck to you both!

She ought to call child welfare. If nothing else they can send her to a shelter. She shouldn't have to live in an abusive situation.

No she does not!
I'd agree with the answer above... get the authorities involved!
"Offer" her a place to stay temporarily and get it all worked out while she's with you.

I'm sure she'll be happier and a lot safer with you... do it quickly!
