Affirmative action means lowering standards for females so that more can pass, but being a cop fighting crime in the streets, or fighting as a soldier in a battlefield is NO place for political correctness. That can jeopardize readiness, teamwork, and public safety. I'm okay with having a woman partner with me in the field of fighting, but she has to be qualified physically and emotionally, and can watch my back while I watch hers at the same time and most importantly, work together cohesively to get the mission completed successfully. Due to biology, there will naturally be more men who are qualified than women. These jobs I mentioned might not be jobs for an average woman, but the individuals who can cut the mustard ONLY if they so want to. I don't think it should be mandatory for women to fight at all, just voluntary. There is no longer a safe non combat job as there are no front lines anymore.

I agree. Affirmative Action has actually slowed the equality because it forces organizations to put women in positions they are not qualified to be in. I believe in equality right down the line, hire based on qualifications. |
