No they shouldn't. I have a right to protect myself from intruders into my house. If unintelligent people wish to be victims, that is their right. My right to defend myself is not dictated by the stupidity of the left.

If you've never been woke up to someone breaking into your house, then you're not in a postion to dictate the needs of others based on ignorance.

No, "intelligent Americans" agree with the many studies done that show that with citizen gun ownership, crime rates go DOWN. Think about it; is someone going to break into your house knowing full well you probably have a loaded gun waiting for them?

All these college shootings comes from children never being taught how to use (and when to use) a gun. With the stricter gun laws people hide their guns, kids find them and those with problems and unlearned in the use of guns do bad things.

I'm a firm believer that guns do not kill people: People kill people. And that will never stop--especially if you take all the guns away from the good people; because it's for sure the bad people don't care if they're legal or not.

The right to bear arms is a Constitutional Right. Please, please, please don't try to take away yet another of our rights! Actually we were given this right in the constitution to defend our rights against an overpowering government ... hum ... makes you think, doesn't it?

They've banned guns in Great Britan for years,even for cops and crime is still though the roof over there. What we have is a parenting crisis today with too many people having kids they don't raise right. I call them meal ticket kids.

If you think so, then take a look at what happened in Great Britain when they banned guns in the past. When guns are banned even law enforcement are banned from using them. Great Britain's crime rate skyrocketted, because if you ban guns, people are just going to hide theirs, or get them illegally through another source. When the criminals know people can carry guns, it does make some of them think twice. Say--if in NIU just one student had been armed, how might the outcome have changed. I have been in class with undercover police during some rough times on campus, and they were armed. Things calmed down within a couple of weeks. People with guns are NOT cowards, the people who want to hide behind the idea that it was the "guns" fault are the cowards. If a person wants to kill another, they WILL find a way to do so. At least currently, people who want to protect themselves or their families have the option to do so. After several years of a gun ban, Great Britain now allows guns. We should learn a lesson from their mistake and LEGISLATE gun ownership, require background checks, etc. but never ban the honest, good people from owning a gun.

Sorry, but your preceeding your question with.... "don't all intelegent...." is demeaning to those who believe the Constitution should not be selectively enforced. As a matter of fact, several Universities are trying to get the ban on students carrying hand guns, lifted and that many lives could have been saved if other students did carry on campus. Criminals usually obtain guns illegally. Saying guns cause violence is like saying flies cause garbage. You have been brainwashed by liberal teachers who teach their beliefs, not what is necesarily true. Look at the facts and you might start to question those who say hand guns are the problem. There are a multitude of objects that can kill, even chemicals that can do more damage than a hand gun in the hands of some crazy. We have many gun laws which are not enforced. During the Clinton Administration, they bragged that the Brady Bill resulted in 200,000 felons from obtaining firearms due to required background checks. Learn to ask questions like, if they falsified the application, they commited perjury and were in violation of Federal law. Ask, how many did the Clinton Administration prosecute for perjury ?.... TWO! and only because they had outstanding warrents. The other 199,998 wern't even arrested. No, guns should not be banned, crininals should be banned and laws enforced. Look up the statistics on countries where guns have been banned. The increase in a variety of crimes against law abiding citizens increases.

Gun control only only works on law abiding citizens. Just like drugs, making them illegal will not keep them off of the street. Even in England where guns are illegal, criminals still obtain and use them in criminal acts.

In a survey I read in a "Police" magazine, the majority of Police Officers are FOR legal CCW's (Concealed Carry Weapons) and people arming themselves, including myself. I think the more law abiding citizens we have armed the less likely to become a crime statistic. Statistics show crime rates are down when legal CCW is up.

My opinion also includes keeping your guns locked in a safe or with a gun lock and not leaving them loaded in a shoebox for any curious child to find.

Responsible gun ownership is the key, and yes, there are laws for that.

i have been around guns my whole life and i have never killed anyone and never will. a firearm is a tool much the same as a hammer. it was designed to do a specific job and they do it very well. a hammer can be just as dangerous as a gun if put in the hands of someone that wishes to do someone else harm. whether the gun is a 9 mm in a police officers holster, a .22 cal rifle used in target shooting, a 12 Gage shot gun used for home defense. they all have the same potential for destruction if put into unknowing hands. the answer doesn't have to do with banning anything, it's education from an early age. unless you would like to ban ALL POTENTIALLY deadly items so go into your kitchen go to your silver were draw and throw it all out... leave a the teaspoons, are there tools in the garage ... if so remove anything that could do damage to someone and take your mechanics tools too... you are doing a blanket banning remember, hope you don't need a brake job oh wait....you have to ban cars to they can run people over and when your done doing all that some one will still find a way to kill someone all banning will do is hurt the people who use these tools ...

All Intelligent, Good Americans realize that guns are dangerous. But with good training and a permit, and a good brain, the Intelligent Americans value our Gun Laws and being honest and sane enough to have them in our lives. The Intelligent American's , have serious thoughts about our Guns , that get into the wrong hands. The illiterate American's are the ones who ruin it for the good handlers. It is the nut cases or should I say one rotten apple that ruins it for the Legal Users. We need to work hard to have a strict Gun Control and keep guns out of the hands of the criminally insane.
But this has been , since the beginning of weapons. All Good Caring, Respectful, Law abiding American's , should have access to a Gun.
