Driving without a license and no insurance?
|
I recently got pulled over in GA im from PA for driving without a license and no insurance on my car and i was sent to jail and i bailed out and i go back to court in April and i was wondering if i should waste my time on actually getting an attorney and what exactly you think they'll do to me. And is there anything i can do to go in there and fix the problem like get my license or will it show up in the DMV that i went to jail for not having one?
I figured if i could go get my license and my insurance figured out maybe the charges wouldn't be so harsh. Any ideas?

You can get a license and insurance, but that's not going to change the past. The only good thing that came from this is that you might have learned a lesson.
And, the police wouldn't have pulled you over for driving without a license or insurance.
They had to pull you over for something visible, i.e. reckless driving, dangerous driving, etc.
And then, after they pulled you over for that offense, they would have written you down for not having a license or insurance. |

Too late. Crime already committed. But show responsibility by getting it straightened out. You don't want this on your record forever. Whatever possessed you to drive without a license and insurance in the first place? |

You've got problems in two states, Pennsylvania and Georgia.
Pennsylvania can suspend your driving privileges for a period of time based on the Georgia offenses. Georgia is going to hit you with fines for the offenses.
Even though you can not get insurance and renew your driver's license retroactively ... it's a good idea to at least try to get your paperwork in order before your court date, that way expired insurance and no license looks like a mistake you corrected rather than a defiance of the law.
Good luck, I have a feeling you will need it! |

I don't think you should waste more money
It probably won't help you
been there, done that
only a dui
you did the crime and now you've gotta pay the time

You're in trouble...there are driving regulations for a reason. Sorry to be so harsh, but at least here in California, you would be in deep doo doo |

you BETTER go get a license because if you don't-the next time you get arrested the fine can be doubled or more in some states.
As for insurance...they WILL be notified that you were arrested for no license and no insurance...so be prepared to pay a LOT to get your insurance.
And like your license-get caught driving again without it...you COULD end up with the car impounded! |

By getting your license and setting up insurance you will be showing the DA and judge that you take this serious, and you can accept responsibilty for making a mistake.
It is likely that as a result the charges will be pled down.
Good luck. |

well when you try and get insurance, you will find its SUPER expensive because of your charges of driving without a license or insurance. Plan on fines of thousands of dollars as well. |

Your car's impounded and you're probably going to have some BIG fines if they let you get a license. |

TRUST ME, Plead no contest, and pay the tickets. I varies with each state but where I am from, they can sentence you to 10 days or so for not having a license. A guy I know just went through it and that was what he got. Besides that, an attorney's fees will be more than the $500-600 in fines that you were charged. The bond fee is non-refundable. If I were you, I would call the court clerk's office and just ask if you could possibly bring in that stuff and maybe get the fines reduced or dropped. Check with your local police office for advice, and call an attorney and just ask for his advice. I do know that my buddy has told me that he would have rather just paid his fine. I've been to court for traffic violations myself and did everything I could to get around the fine, so I understand where you are coming from. LOL!!! If you do not have the money for the fines, most courts will work out payments that you pay once a month. If you go no-contest, do it BEFORE the court date. Once you are in court, you are at the judge's mercy. Hopefully, there is an officer online who can tell you more. After watching my friend, I would have paid the fines. |

Great thing about Texas is that if you are with out insurance. They tow you car on the spot and issue you a ticket. It will not be long that the rest of the country follows.
If you have the money to bail yourself out of jail you should of had insurance. As far as what is going to happen, well that depends on the judge and how he is going to look at it. Do you have a past or is this your first time. Even first timers get a good smack in the face now days to make shure you dont default.
If you have the money to talk with the lawer then yes I would do that. If not go in with your head down and hell of a lot of yes sirs im at fault and take the punishment he hands out. |

If you can prove that you had just forgotten about renewal ,I don't think you should be punished or fined. If you have proof that you correctly renewed year after Previous years ,then I doubt the courts will want to fine you more than a token sum. |

Show up for the hearing, more than likely the officer who pulled you over will not be there. DEFINITELY get your license and insurance before you go, because the judge WILL ask you. You will get points on your license, but it won't be as bad if you prove that you're trying. Good luck!! |
