Drunk hit and run in a car...parked car?

This would be a DUI with property damage in CA., serious stuff. If it's your first DUI, you're looking at a ton of community service or home confinement, although I doubt jail. The fine could range up to 3k not including paying for the other vehicle. If you decide to turn yourself in, they might cut you a break, but there's no guarantee. You would have your license suspended for 3 months or longer if you are under 21. You could be required to install interlock on any and every car your parents own. You would have to attend, most likely, 24 classes for DUI which you would also have to pay for.

Even if they only get your for VC 20002, hit and run, you can still loose your license, have a serious misdemeanor record, etc. Think about never joining the military, being a cop, you name it. We're not just talking a jail and a fine, we're talking about a life changing issue.

Whether or not you turn yourself in is up to you. Your parents will find out you got into an accident. They will be pissed. What you tell them is your business. If you don't want to get caught, just get the car towed to a mechanic and get it fixed. Don't tell the mechanic what happened. Cross your fingers that there were no witnesses, at 2 am, I doubt it. You have to weigh for yourself if you want to get away with this or not, because you can get away with it.

As a criminal defense attorney, I would advise you to get your car fixed and say nothing. But hey, that's my job, not your conscience. Pick a best answer please, don't just leave this to voting, I hate that.

Stop drinking and driving would be a good start. You are putting the lives of innocent people at risk as well as your own. As for the car - own up.

I personally think you should sit down with them and say what happened. You cant run from the truth.

Just go straight up to them and say "Mom and Dad, I screwed up big time and I just want another chance. I promise I'll NEVER do anything like this again", then just tell them what happened.

Sure they'll be mad, but since you were honest, they'll cut you some slack.

Dude if you're drunk, don't even try to drive. Im in college and when we get too drunk to drive, we just hitch a ride with someone who isn't or we call a friend. Just be careful next time dude and good luck

you need to say something because they will find our anyway....what u did was indeed wrong but we are human and humans make mistakes....however its up to us not to become a victim of our own word and become the Creator and seek solutions to our problems.

what i would do is when they both are happy tell them to there face not in a note, because they they will really be mad. It's so much better to actually tell them. Hope it works. GOOD LUCK

Hmm, the right thing to do would be to report yourself to the cops now, since they won't know that you were drinking and driving. Tell them that you hit an SUV, but didn't know what to do at 2 in the morning. Your parents are going to find out and probably have the same reaction either way (freak out) but you need to be 100% honest with them, so they can see that you've taken some sort of responsibility. Ask them what they would like to do, since I'm assuming that the insurance and car is in their name.

For the future, don't drink and drive, Yeah, you've heard it before, but seriously, if you want to die that's your problem, but you put other peoples lives in danger. Go drink at a friends and stay there!!!!

you probably wouldn't have to worry about the DUI part of it, as you werent not apprehended at the scene and no breathalyzer was taken. however, you still hit and run and if someone got your license plate number, you are done. they will show up at your house. you are better off to 1. tell your folks what you did before they find out themselves by looking at the car. that is the adult thing to do. 2. turn yourself in to the cops. chances are your parents will make you do that anyways. 3. be prepared for your insurance to skyrocket as you hit a parked car.

and for goodness sakes, stop drinking and driving. you dodged a bullet with that this time, but next time you might end up killing yourself or someone else, and you will be doing some serious jail time. not worth it!

You must weigh the case. Obviously, nobody was hurt, so thats great news! Keep that in mind. The SUV and car are things that are replacable.

The best course of action is to take responsibility for your actions. I'd rather hear you say you'll be more smart next time, maybe even stop drinking, consider reimbursing the owner of the suv if you can (or if your less than adult age let your parents know and consider what they have to say), rather than haul yourself off to the local prison.

Evidence exists: car is banged up, your acting strangely (quiet), car not parked in usual spot so someone will probably ask. Step forward and take inititive, or if you need time to sort things out then wait till someone asks but don't lie about it and don't be quick to point fingers. I don't know how old you are, so maybe just let your parents give you advice for now and consider what they have to say.
