Fake ID taken away?

You know how some people collect baseball cards? Your ID will be will be just another pretty face within a collection.

The bartender, either a veteran or wisely educated, knows that if he calls it in, he will likely have to provide a taped statement to the police and perhaps later testify at a possible trial. Neither is good for business nor worth his time. So he pockets it and adds it to his ever growing collection...

It has your REAL name and picture, chances are they are going to be able to find you and prosecute you for it if they really wanted to press the issue.

Your bartender was just keeping the club safe and kicking the minors out in a low key manner. I doubt he will turn it into a spotlight. Learn from it and move on.

They may contact the police, but I really doubt it. He probably added it to his fake id collection on the lunchroom bulletin board and that's it.

The only time I've ever been called is when soemone has used someone else's id (possibly stolen) or when they have defaced/modified their driver's licence/health card.

Well he could turn it in to the police. BUT he most likely is going to destroy it. If he were going to turn it in to the cops, he would have done it while you were there.

I used to bartend, many years ago, and had to take a class that was conducted by TABC (Texas Alcohol & Beverage Control) to get certified to sell alcohol.

The instructor said that regardless of how sure you are that a license is fake, you do not have the authority to take it away from the person.

You can refuse service, ask the patron to leave, and even call the police if you feel so inclined; but never take something from someone that does not belong to you because that would be stealing.

And as far as you getting into trouble if he turns you in to the Police...I truly doubt it. You'd be surprised how many people have actually tried using fake IDs to drink while underage.

The best course of action: Tell on yourself first, before he has a chance. Not only will you feel better for telling the truth, but they might be more open-minded about the issue and how they intend to handle it.

I also recommend that you go to the Police just on the off-chance that this may actually be a new tactic used by "Identity Thieves" to steal a person's personal info.

I don't think you're stupid; but please be extremely careful with anything that involves your identity and/or private information. There are many predators out there trying everything they can to get that information.

It probably went in his huge collection of other fake ID's he's confiscated over the years. If you haven't heard anything by now, I wouldn't worry about it.

Odds are, nothing is going to happen. Technically, seeing as he has no legal authority, he could be prosecuted for theft, so he would be cutting his nose off to spite his face. Anyway, this guy does this for a living. He's worried about more important things that getting underage drinkers prosecuted.

Well Sasha Gomez, your photo and ID are probably now on their way to Mexico to be doctored up.

Otherwise, the bartender is not going to give your fake ID to the cops. That would get the bar owner and probably him in trouble.

My suggestion, stay out of trouble. You don't need to drink or get high to have fun. Trust me, I used to do a lot of that and all it did was age me faster and wear my body down.

I used to work the door. The law says I was to turn in the people who used fake ID's. I never did though. I kept a shoebox full of fake ID's.

I doubt the guy will turn you in.

This is what being underage is all about. Even if the bouncer turns your id over to the police, an underage girl isn't a high priority. Actually, you aren't even a priority. Nothing is going to happen.
